A really BIG crap happens to me. I wanted to buy this item today

http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... true&rt=nc

...but the seller had sold it early morning for a price LOWER than declared as 'Buy-it-now" and 3 days BEFORE the end-time of auction!!!

I feel myself very broken with it... cant believe in such kind of actions from seller...

i already own a CCMKIV and all i really wanted was the box which i was missing
well i received the extremely pricey CCMKIV
it is supposed to be able to find all mates ..up to a mate in 5...
i set it to 2 Min 45 Seconds per move
i took the dark pieces

we reached this position with CCMKIV to move

[fen]2rr2k1/P4ppp/4p3/8/4nB2/N7/P1p3PP/R6K w - - 0 23[/fen]

MKIV played 1.a8=Q
i of course played ..1Rd1+
2.Rxd1 cxd1=Q mate
it didnt see a simple mate in 2 at 2 min 45 sec
i wonder if i can get a refund from the seller?

perhaps Scisys meant it can see all mates in 5..

Hey Steve, maybe some of the answer lies in the fact that CCMKIV stands for:

Champion Can't Mate King In V :D

It's All In The Acronym Regards,

That is what they meant!

Steve, back in the model "T" years of computer chess I gave Chess Challenger 8 a mate in 3 problem when it claimed it could see any mate in 2.

After about 3 days, (can't remember exactly and don't have it anymore to test it), it actually announced a mate in 3!

If I can find the exact problem you can verify it if you have the patience.

I think it was this famous Sam Loyd problem but two moves in.

[fen]n1rb4/1p3p1p/1p6/1R5K/8/p3p1PN/1PP1R3/N6k w - - 0 1[/fen]
White to Play. Mate in 5.

[fen]n2b4/1p3p1p/1p6/1RP4K/8/4p1PN/p1P1R3/N6k w - - 0 3[/fen]
White to Play. Mate in 3.

Give diagram two to Chess Challenger 8 and let it run for a few days.

In fact it may have been solved in as little as 36 hours if memory serves me correctly.

Interesting Post Terry
Thanks

Of course the SC8 was not an expensive computer so long mate finding times are tolerable
but when you pay what i paid for the CCMKIV you expect mate times to be about how long it takes me to mate
20-30 seconds

Just Ask My Ex-Wife Regards

I'm not a particularly sophisticated collector, but this seems like a bit of a stretch, to say the least. From the look of the side-view, I'd say it's spent some time on the wrong end of a smokestack or on a shelf over a stove or for entertainment in a coal mine or as a steam engineer's practice board or...

What I like is the fact that it is both "rare" and "hard to find".
