Chessmaster on Palm OS - was de Koning the programmer?

Post by pennine22 »

Hi

I enjoy using the five chess programs I have still running on my Tungsten TX with Palm OS (312 MHZ Intel XSCale PXA 270 chip) mainly playing against standalone chess computers.

One is Chessmaster (v1.5.6 dated 2002 from Lokisoft) and had always assumed it was a port of The King program by de Koning as the interface and wealth of features (including English language analysis) looks like a port of the PC program. Very stable as well cf some Chessmaster on PC variants.

But was puzzled that de Koning is not mentioned in the long list of credits and Googling around can find no confirmation of this. The two programmers (interface only and / or engine?) mentioned are Silviu Dragomir and Dan Dragan.

Can anyone confirm or otherwise the engine program / programmer. Many thanks!

regards
David
