Mate in 7 solving times for RISC2500 RAM sizes

128 kb 1min 26secs
528 kb 18 secs
2 mb 17 secs
The older ones among us will remember the exorbitant cost of RAM
memory back in the early 90's. It was around $80 per mb down here,
around a day's pay for a lot of people. I do remember an attempt at
justifying the price a claim that the RAM factory burnt down.
This explains the 528 kb upgrades as opposed to the full hog 2mb
upgrades. There was a hefty price difference.
I just thought this a worthy piece of trivia for the forum before taking
my wife out for coffee and cake.

This was back in the old days when programmers were still programmers :wink: Having to work within tiny limits and save every little nibble. I think it is a pity that back in the 80s, we did not see the benefits of hash tables in that many machines. It would have vastly improved the endgames apart from anything else. Just imagine if machines like MMV and Polgar had even just little hash tables.
