Fidelity "Micro Chess Challenger"

Post by pondarcat »

I have an old hand-held Fidelity "Micro chess challenger" that works fine -
that is, as it was designed. However, even on its' highest level (level 64) it
plays a poor end game. This device works by manually punching in your
moves & waiting for its' move on the screen.

I would like to get a new manual one that plays a better game than mine does. (Like at a higher level)

I have 2 "sensory" sets, - one, the Fidelity Elete A/S Challenger, Model E4.0,
that has developed some problems, and a Novag Citrine which MAY work
alright except I don't understand the User's Manual's poor instructions nor its'
very poor screen "read-outs". So, I'm a little afraid of buying another
sensory set.

Would like to know if anyone knows of a suitable replacement with a higher
level of play than my micro unit. They probably only come with a board.
But that's ok, I can pitch it as I like my existing board very much. Or if it
comes embeded as a one-piece unit, maybe I can just cut it out.

Using my chess set in front of a PC computer is not an option for me.

Thank you.

Almost ANY manual device is better than that you have because it is and it was the very worst. But you should look at ebay to find something.
I have a very decent one by Excalibur, deluxe something, that plays at 1700 or better in a good day.
