The Strangest Computer Move?

Post by Cyberchess »

Greetings!

A friend sent me this video of his game with a recent version of Stockfish running on SCID.

He then emailed to ask me “what the hell is going on?”

Stockfish obviously cast a Pawnus Appearitus spell.

I recall that Alekhine did the same after drinking a pint of brandy during the 1934 match with Bogoljubov.

Great anecdote, Greg! That's almost as bad as when Alekhine, in a drunken stupor, switched envelopes durung WWII.

 Speaking of bloopers, I owe Stockfish a huge apology. My friend that had that anomalous game later wrote to explain that he was playing a program called "Chess King".

A Comedy Of Errors Regards,

John,

I wasn't familiar with that story about the envelopes. Too funny!
