Par Excellence Real Excellence

Post by Fernando »

How strong really is?
Not certainly the 2100 Elo the USCF gave it once...
But then, ¿how much?
I have been playing it lastly and certainly is strong but not that strong. Perhaps 1900?
In any case an interesting computer to play. It does not make stupid moves as so many weak comps, like the ilustrious King from G to H square just because...
It knows how to change from one side of the board to another to begin hostilities if It dims that operations in this or that side are for nothing. In fact I lost a game because after having a massive advantage in the queen side, being sure to win, Par found a way to counterattack in the king side and I had no time to carry troops to that post.
After this I will try Excel 68000. I think is a Par on steroids...

Hi Fern,

There are three Par Excellence models on the Wiki-Elo-Liste.
- the 6502 5 MHz is rated around 1900
- the 10 MHz is 1970, and
- the 16 MHz comes to 2070-2080

So I guess you are playing teh 5 MHz version ;-)

MHz regards,
Paul

Almost sure. PE does not go beyond 6 plies in middle game, rarely 7.
