There is an entertaining thread back in 2008 on Ismenio's old forum where Russ gets a bit upset. -
Kinda sad to read Overtom's posts
we had some contact back then...nothing too significant really
he was a knowledgeable collector
I bought a few computers from his collection after he passed when they were offered for sale

Moment Of Silence Regards
Steve
Yes Steve, Tom was a lovely fellow. His blogs were charming and his advice always worth listening to. He was a good friend, sadly it was for only for a few years. Typical of Tom to weigh in to the debate on your side.

Good memories and sad

seriously .. where is the interest for seller to propose such a price ? ... With those price , only collectors could be interested and collectors know (it is better) the real price of the dedicated machine...
My feeling is that those machine are never sold at those prices ?? i am wrong

I still keep Tom's web site on my iPad. If you have never visited it then you are in for a great experience.

The idea behind all these criminal prices is: that one day a stupid person will buy it.
280 for an opening module... I offered him 40.

All those guys trust on stupidy.

Createspace is a 'self-publishing (aka vanity)' company which likely means that no real objective editing occurs, hence the title.

Sort of funny is the description below the title where 'The Whites' not 'White' and 'The Blacks' not 'Black' makes it sound like it's a contest between the races.

Not Bob Woodward Regards,

I'll pass, judging by the title I cannot see me wanting to look at 838 Houdini, Komodo, Stockfish and others

I asked this seller if it was a typo. His reply was short and to the point: "NO. THANK YOU.".

I considered asking if his caps lock key was stuck, but thought better of it.

Regarding Tom L and his excellent site, I visit it nearly daily. The blogs are fun to read, and the collection and organization are excellent (though he was missing a few computers whose omission surprised me). Seems like a great guy. I wish I had known him.

(Oh, and someone may post my Excalibur Grandmaster listed at $550 OBO on here. It's not so much a "greed grab" listing as a dual "I just lost my job and need to sell some stuff" and "I don't really want to sell this, but it comes with extras nobody else has offered so let's see what happens" kind of listing.)

Cheers,

Jeff
