Mephisto MM X /Rebel Portorose 1989 WMCCC

Post by Sargon1972 »

Hello All,

Well after some asking about this one of a kind version
We have managed ,to make this version available for all
Thanks to to Ruud Martin(PhoenixChess) and Michael Volschow (Schachcomputer.info)

Why?
Well such a special and only version of his kind must not be gone lost
So others can/could have fun with this version as well

The Original Chess computer ,have a 27C512 eprom , this means it is bigger the 32KB what is in the Original MM IV /MM V these can only read 32KB if it is bigger then happens nothing because they see only the program 32KB and the book is in remaining 32KB
So with the Original MM IV/MMV yes u can play this version but with out the special WC book from Jeroen Noomen
So available yes and how

1 - people with the MM IV/HG 440 opening Module and MM V HG 550
can run this version ,u will be send 2 eproms 1 program ,2Book

2-Modified PCB of the MM IV HG440 /MM V HG550 think on the 10Mhz IN 1 Modul versions are already modified for this eprom

The version
Well i already have written over it ,with the special functions it have
http://chesseval.com/ChessEvalJournal/PrototypeMMV.htm

http://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/in ... toroz_1989

The price is 55 Euro and this is included shipment
Why i do it , well the money i get from it will go to Cliniclowns in Netherlands
It is a organisation who entertain children who are very sick and are for a while in the hospital
So if u want to give/donate more it would be awesome, but is not a must do

I have the rights to sell the program/Chess computer ,when i did buy it from Ed Schroder
So it is forbidden to burn and sell it your self

U can order the direct through mine email mierlo15(dot)ziggo.nl
Ore through pm here

Hi Hans
can you pease explain what exactly you are offering?
i have both the MMIV and MMV as well as the HG440 and HG550 book modules

you are selling an eprom that replaces the eprom in one of these modules?
you are selling a pcb board that replaces the pcb in these modules?

we have to send you these modules for replacement?

Confused Regards

Hi Hans,

If I have MMIV module only will it play using the MMIV book or no book at all? Also what other game ROMs are compatible with the MMIV hardware? Is 27c512 a socket type fit or is soldering required? Finally two Eproms (game+book) for 55 so one (game or book) for 27.5 ?

Unnecessary duplication! Just back up eproms and switch chips as needed. You can also sell the HG440 to a needy MMIV operator.

Hello TT ,

If u have the MM IV module only , u can only use the MM X Portorose Program, because the MM IV/MMV only are 32 KB ,so the book is in the other 32 KB . so a HG 440/550 is needed to put the other 32 KB book eprom in it ,so 2x 27C256 eprom .

I can put it also in 1 eprom 27C512 (is 2x 256) but then the MM IV/MM V will only read out to 32 KB ,so not 64KB
so no Book as well only the Program will play with out the Book

U can let modify the MM IV/MM V so it is able to read out 64KB
But that i can,t do myself .
I know someone who can do this in Germany ,and he can also turn up the speed to 9,8mhz for a very fair price
He told me last week he have created for the MMIV/MM V a speed up to 19,8Mhz
If u are interested let me know by Mail ore pm

Ugh, ugly job on the stickering there Hans. I think it's time to upgrade to a sticky label printer :P For 55 Euro I would expect a professional job.

Jesting regards,
