Hi Mike, yep, the Mephisto Master.
Use the display and arrow keys and all is ok.

I noticed the Master was released fully four years after the Atlanta.
I'm wondering if this means the Master is a derivative of a later version
of Fritz than the Atlanta, especially given that further up this thread
it was noted that the Atlanta played a different and weaker move when
compared to the Master.

Boris beating Conquistador twice? I guess Conquistador has beaten himself...;-)
The Boris's I know of are below 1000 elo...

Paul.

Hi Paul
if you scan through the first few pages of this thread you will see this "Boris" is not the dedicated computer but some sort of PC Engine with the same name

Plagiarism Regards

Great news indeed!

The final few games went:

Master - Simultano 1-0
This was another sparkling tactical win by the Master.

Obsidian - Master 0.5-0.5
Rook and pawn ending....yawn.

Simultano - Master 0-1
The Master got a big lead out of the opening and was a sound pawn up. But it sacked the exchange purely for a bit of fun and the Simultano almost drew. After a blunder in time trouble the Master had a forced mate in 3, which it found instantly.

Master - Diamond II 1-0
Some SERIOUSLY deep tactics here, for a dedicated machine. The Master found a combination the Diamond missed, winning a piece.
