His giving to the world looks about a net loss for he made more race hate and childish public moments than other benefits. The small understanding he gave was only for a board game.

Fischer supposedly recently released a new edition of his " My 60 Memorable Games" adding one game from the 1992 re-match with Spassky and renaming it "My 61 Memorable games"

a post was made about the book here:
http://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php? ... ight=#5602

i imagine this book will sell like wild fire now
especially the signed edition

or is this book a hoax?

the heros of our youth (fischer, pestalozzi) die. we have the duty to teach our children their values. to make the same terrorists out of our children the dying heros have made out of us.

fighting those who try to change this world into a money machine.

This thread is not the place for comments like this - if you must bring all this up please do it in the Thinkers Forum.

The Great Chessplayer has died. Rest in Peace Bobby.
Condolations to the chess world.

To xenophon,
It is not in good taste to speak bad about death Man.
He is not able to defend.

My apology. I will also not speak good about the dead Joe Stalin. He is not able to defend himself against the charge.

Adequate comparison. :-(

You are right, it might be dangerous.

I think we can take both paths. We can speak well of him and remember him well from his incredible chess, and at the same time denounce his insane beliefs and declarations that he made in contexts usually completely unrelated to the game.

Hi Harvery,

It was kidney failure. If you can read Spanish, Leontxo wrote a fine article in El País: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/deportes ... dep_11/Tes

Thanks, Steve.

Like most of us, I don’t really know much about the person Fischer. He has been part of my chess life since Portoroz 1958, and a myth since 1970-72. I had the honor of publishing an interview with him in the first issue of CCD, back in 1982. To people who can read Spanish I recommend http://www.elpais.com/articulo/deportes ... dep_11/Tes

he was not A chessplayer. he was THE chessplayer. americas world chess champion.

without him chess / computerchess in the 70ties would have been completely different. we don't know if we would have had computerchess without fischer. it was HIM making chess popular in the 70ties.

i am sure he can play blind against god, and still rant about the americans :-) in heaven.
