Anybody seen these pieces? Guy told me they were from an ARB

Post by qubit »

I picked up some Chafitz Auto Reponse Boards from a craigslist seller recently. Aside from the ordinary wooden pieces he included a set of heavy metal ones. The seller told me that he vaguely remembered buying them from Chafitz as an optional extra back in the day. I can't find any information about them, but they sure look pretty. Anybody seen these before?

Hi
i have a very similar magentic chess set..using this Renaissance theme
i compared the pieces and Pawns and there are almost identical although not exactly
the pieces are very light weight as they are hollow inside
are yours the same?
i can say my set had nothing to do with the ARB or any other dedicated chess computer ..i picked up the set many years ago which came with a large magnetic chess board

Renaissance Regards
Steve

Hmm, interesting. Mine are definitely not hollow, they're pretty heavy.

Haha, I was cutting up a lot of paper to make book covers and I went right through my cutting mat into the desk without noticing. At least I wasn't cutting on top of one of these Auto Reponse Boards...

I'm pretty certain those pieces were the well-publicised ones discovered amongst the remains of frozen woolly mammoths in Siberia rather than an alternative set for the ARB.
Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.

Right on target.
I have heard rumors that the mammoth was an expert chess player.
