First Game, Hard Draw...

Post by Fernando »

My first game -and the unique to date- against MG was played with the machine at 2 minutes average time for each move, which i consider a strong setting. As always I played the first half of the game with my mind in two other things and of course I lost a pawn. Then I awoke and fought hard and finally I drove the game to a technical ending where the extra pawn is worth of nothing.
As usual, then, my lazyness of first half compeled me to work extra hours in the second half.
My impression is the same I have always had with Lang programs: I never feel myself in danger.
After winning the pawn it did fire some tactical tricks to impede me to go to the technical ending I mentioned, but I parried all of them and so I got the half point.
I feel lot more in danger with, seriously, Ivan or Champion. The positional style of Lang gives me a sense of quiescence that let me play in peace and commit lot less mistakes...
In any case, I enjoyed it a lot.

Look forward to seeing more results from you versus MCG. Remember
that with MCG the hash is turned off by default to save battery life. Check
that out on yours, make sure hash is on because no hash costs maybe 100elo.

Hi Larry,

I wasn't aware that you can turn hash on/off!?
Is that in the menu? And how is it named there?

Surprised regards,
Paul

If I am mistaken, it must be caused by a horizon effect...

Oops...just had a look in the owners' manual. I'm confused... I was
referring to the ECO function, which of course is Ponder off/on. By
default it is off, which likely results in an even bigger ELO reduction
than 100.
Notice the arrogant Germans put their language up front in the owners'
manual. Everyone knows English comes first.

Mmm, maybe, but Spanish should come first. It is a far more accurate language than English. After all, it comes from latin.
