some statistics

Post by gsgs »

I have downloaded the CCRL-games and TCEC-games
with evaluations and am doing some statistics, which
I thought I might post here.

TCEC:
http://tcec.chessdom.com/archive.php

CCRL:
http://computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/4040/ (40/40)
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/ (40/4)
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404FRC/ (FRC 40/4)

they have this big database of 647279 40/40 games at CCRL which you can download !
But in order to be useful, it must be processed by computer, of course.
However the format is not uniform, I'm having a hard time to convert it.

Am I the first one ? Haven't you also tried to do this ?
Shall I send my computerized version on micro-SD, so others can use it ?
What format would you like ?

Currently I'm, just excluding ~1% of games with missing Elo, additional comments,
nonmatching parenthese etc.
I truncate after 99 moves and last move if made by white, omitted also the result-string

From the headers I just take player-names,Elos,result. I add number of moves, so it can be
better read by computer.
From the moves I take moves,times,evals ; omitting "book"-strings etc. , adding {+0.00, where
no eval is given, usually because of "book"
So, 6 entries per double-move, separated by comma ; games where this gives problems,
because of missing values or additional strings or anything within () are omitted.

I also omit games with one Elo <2500.

What else should I do, what add. How many games should be selected ?
I guess, I'll get ~620000, uniform format, from the 647279, the other make too many problems

I must also exclude some more ~40000 games, because the evals look incorrect
----------------------------------

when we have this we can make lots of interesting statistics ...

can I please edit longer than 0.5 hours ?

adding more links ...

currently I have filtered 366038 computer-readable games from
CCRL40/40 (file ccrlm1.eva , evaluations only so far,
but should be easy to add the moves, timings, depths)
maximal 98 moves per game, only games with "proper" format

(I can send this, if someone is interested)

TCEC-9-3 , 8-move-openings are fixed, engine pairs play them
with white and black. The evals are:
