in the latest section 91 - 120 the numbers 91 - 99 are not online. Is it a mistake or am I too impatient?
I hope, the rest will come soon ... I am really wating for the early numbers!
Regards,
Sascha
You are too impatient. 😀
Numbers 50-99 should be scanned now and I will get a DVD from Eric soon.
The earliest Selective Searches were very simple. Just a few A4 sheets stapelled together. It took a few years for the magazine to develop into its later format. Maybe that is disappointing news, but there is some good news. There were actually two 'Selective Searches' for a while. One produced by Eric Hallsworth and one produced by his former boss (....long story) Mike Healey.
Both versions are good reading. We will try to get permission to publish Mike Healey's version also. Then there are also a few extra supplements/editions.
All the best
Mike
It is great to review these old editions of Selective Search. Looking forward to the next installment.
Reading, reading....regards,
Dave

Eric Wainwright has sent me the next batch of Selective Search issues.
Nos. 61-99 (1996-2002) are now available on the website.
http://www.chesscomputeruk.com/html/sel ... _2000.html
http://www.chesscomputeruk.com/html/sel ... _2005.html
Scanning turned out to be more problematic than anticipated to get an acceptable quality but Issues 31-60 should also be on the website by the end of this week. The remaining issues 1-30 and some extras when they are done.
Hope you enjoy them.
All the best
Mike

Hello folks,
The next batch of Selective Searches issues #31-60 is now up and available on the website:
http://www.chesscomputeruk.com/html/sel ... _1995.html
Thank you for your patience in waiting. Issues #31-99 constitute the bulk of the “golden era” of computer chess. This era saw the steady progress of the dedicated machines, eventually reaching the top echelons of performance and competition. As we witness these machines overtake the monster mainframes of the era, culminating in a landmark victory by Ed Schröder’s ChessMachine in the 1992 World Championships in Madrid, we later see the dedicated machines succumb themselves to the rapid rise of the PC’s.
In these issues you find coverage of:
- All the major computer chess tournaments from 1990-2002
- Reviews of all new dedicated machines and PC programs
- Interviews with Ed Schröder (#45) and Mark Uniacke (#46)
- The programs taking on the Grandmasters (#54, #63, #69, and #70)
- Best buying guides (#61, #79, #85, and #91)
In about another month, we hope to complete the entire collection of Selective Search back issues.
Best regards,
Eric Wainwright
