I own a Intel Xeon CPU E-3 1225 @3.20 GHZ with 8 Gb Ram desktop workstation with 4 cores ..In need of suggestions for a higher end processor chip either from Xeon family or Intel i 7 for heavy use of engines ,in depth analysis . And can i just assemble the new chip in my old Xeon desktop or update it with the new high end chips?

Hello!
There might be a lot of options, the easiest however is to simply replace the processor with a faster compatible one. So you need to dig into the specs of your motherboard, whether it supports fsaster processors (most likely).
Since you didn't specify, which type of Xeon E3 do you own?
There is version 1 to 6, the latter being the most efficient and fastest.
Your motherboard however might just support CPU's within the family and version.
Take a look at e.g. the E3v5 CPU series:

fastest is:
http://ark.intel.com/products/88171/Int ... e-3_70-GHz
or. E3v6 Series:
http://ark.intel.com/products/90733/Int ... e-3_90-GHz
So you first need to check the version.
It might also be possible to slightly overclock the CPU, also dependent of your motherboard release and quality....not forget to use a good heatsink.
