I think that Nick was Serbian originally and I know he lived in the UK for some years before moving to the US. I know Nick's previous (?) address and a bit of a search will tell you where he worked and where he possibly is working now. PM me if you want to make contact.
I'm confident Nick is alive. I'm confident it's not necessary to use past tense in reference to him. That doesn't preclude the possibility that he's facing real-world issues.

Though, it's odd that he hasn't renewed his web-site's domain that was due last October. I can't imagine the time he put into that, and for the few dollars it costs to register.. He must be really busy.
