HELLO ALL

Post by Chessfan1957 »

Hello All
I came across this web site,
And after reading some posts I decided to join.
My Name is Daniel Escobedo and just getting back into chess again.
In the Bobby Fischer days I played lot of chess up until I was 25yrs old,
And at that time (1750 elo) I was ok then but now I don’t know, so recently
I bought some chess computers to get back into chess. Here is a list of
What I have. (The first six I bought from craigslist only because they were close by).
When I bought the first six I didn’t know chess computers had elo ratings.
BOUGHT ORDER
1 - Saitek Kasparov GK 2000 (craigslist $20.00)
2 - SciSys Kasparov Turbo 16K (craigslist $25.00 -NEW)
3 - EXCALIBUR KINGMASTER III (craigslist $15.00 -NEW)
4 - RadioShack Master 2200X (EBAY $65.00 -NEW)
5 - EXCALIBUR GRANDMASTER (craigslist $150.00-NEW)
6 - EXCALIBUR Phantom Force (craigslist $50.00)
(1st six)
7 - Millennium Chess Genius 810 (EBAY - NEW)
8 - Mephisto Dallas 68000 (EBAY )
9 - Mephisto Exclusive MMIV with MMV Update (EBAY)
10- Saitek Centurion H8 10 MHz (EBAY)
11- Mephisto Challenger H8 10 M (EBAY)
12- Novag Zircon II 13.3 MHz (EBAY)
13- Novag Obsidian (EBAY - NEW)
14- GAVON for Raspberry PI-3 (J.B)
15- Mephisto Miami (EBAY)
16- Saitek Expert Travel Chess (AMAZON $74.95)
17 - EXCALIBUR ESCORT (EBAY)
18 - Dream Cheeky USB (craigslist $10.00 Board only no software)

I would like to buy 1 to 5 more
Recommendations?
Should I sell some?
Can anyone send me the Dream Cheeky software?

I will be 60 yrs. Old next month,
And I am CNC Programmer (Catia, Vericut)/Toolmaker with over 38 yrs. experience.
I work in the Aerospace Industry.
I just Played some one here local at 1350 elo and I had a tough time and it was a Draw
:)

Hi Daniel,
Welcome to the forum. Here you will find like-minded chess computer collectors that share your interests. Concerning recommendations....it depends on whether you are interested in: portable or strong elo, or wooden auto-sensory board or ?

I am amazed that you have had such good luck buying off of Cragslist. Well done.

Welcome...regards,
Dave

Hi Chessfan,

Nice collection you have, and for nice prices too ;-).
I like the Excalibur Grandmaster for its design, and it is Ron Nelson's masterpiece.

Some remarks:
Centurion, Mephisto Chess Challenger and Expert Travel are all clones of the GK 2100. You could sell the Chess Challenger or the Centurion, depending on which model you like best.

The GK 2000, the Miami and the Radio Shack 2200X may also be clones of each other.

If your elo is around 1700 I could recommend the Mephisto Europa, which has a nice playing style.

For your Exclusive board you could try to get the modules MM I and MM II.
And on variety: you should also try to get a Fidelity chesscomputer with a program from the Spracklens, there are a lot of different models, both plastic and wood.

Free advice regards,
Paul

Thanks
Paul for your input
I didn’t know about the clones,
So I will sell one of the two, and just picked up the Designer 2000 Electronic Chess Challenger. :)
