Thanks for the Match DonkeyL

nice to see an old time computer take on one of these young brash newcomers and win
especially with the "normal" playing style as the "Active" Style is considered stronger

Long Live The Oldies Regards

I acquired the R30 in 1998 from countrywide computers in Cambridgeshire, and on no occasion, not once, have I ever played a game on the active setting,or defensive setting come to that,I guess I'll save the active setting for a match against the exclusive chess genius when it finally comes out and I acquire the machine.

Qe3, that was a particularly hot pawn on b2, and then compounded a poor position by playing Kf7 at move 27 instead of Kh7. 9.5-5.5 in favour of the R30. Regards Steve C.

There were a few errors in this game,I thought of particular interest was the position after the CGPro played 22. Qd3, the R30 didn't see what appears to be the killer response,Rf1!!,this may be a good test of the dedicateds to see if they get it on analysis mode.I intend to give my machines a go at it to see how they fare.Score 10.5-5.5 in favour of the R30. I have just given the position from the previous game, after CGPro's 22nd move to the R30 on analysis mode . After 1hr 45 mins it still sees Qg4 as the best move with an evaluation of +0.49.The key to this position is Rf1!!,the CGPro can only recapture with the queen, after which Qc2 overloads white's position in short order. The R30 has done well in positional problems, but doesn't seem to see the Qc2 follow up.Any other dedicateds do any better?

My bad,I just reset the position this morning, the winning move is,of course, 22...Rf8, and not Qc2, white can still castle after Qc2.The problem,Rf1!!,is still the move to play.Regards Steve C.
