Excalibur Ivan leads 5.0-2.0
I lost the PGN file for this game, but suffice it to say it was about the most boring game you'll ever see. Both computers got into an even Rook & Pawn endgame and played pretty well (or equally badly), and the game ended in a draw. Ivan leads 5.0-2.0.

Excalibur Ivan leads 5.0-3.0
Game 8 in this match was an exercise in frustration, as both programs blew numerous chances to put the game away. A complicated endgame caused both computers to miss key moves, but in the end the Excalibur Ivan made the most egregious endame mistakes, and the RS 2150L got the win to pull to within 5.0-3.0
Here's an example.
[fen]8/1p1rkp2/2pR4/p1P1P2p/P2K1P2/8/1P6/8 w - - 0 35[/fen]
The correct move here for white wins, 35. Rxd7+, with Stockfish showing a 7.00 advantage for white. Instead, White played 35. Kc4?? to let Black back into the game.

Excalibur Ivan leads match 5.0-4.0
The RS 2150L is making a comeback! In a tactically wild Semi-Slav, Meran Variation, the Excalibur Ivan enters into a very complicated exchange and the 2150L comes out better for it.
In the following position, Ivan played the complicated, and inaccurate 22...Nf6.
[fen]1r3rk1/3nb1pp/p3p3/q2bPp2/NpBQ1P2/4B3/PP4PP/R2R2K1 w - - 6 22[/fen]
Taking the White Knight on a4 was the much better choice.
Then, Ivan makes a terrible blunder with 32...Bc7??, which loses a piece. I think even a woodpusher like myself would not have made this mistake.
[fen]2r3k1/6pp/1B6/p3bp2/1pb5/6P1/PP1R3P/R5K1 w - - 2 32[/fen]
32...Bf6 and maybe black can survive.

Excalibur Ivan leads 6.0-4.0
Ivan moves to within a draw of winning this match with this victory, a nice tactical game and a nice job of Ivan in converting the Queen, Pawn ending, something that's not always a slam dunk with these machines.
In this position, Ivan finds the nice 28. R x c6!, and cruises on to victory.

Excalibur Ivan wins match 6.5-4.5
The match ended in wimpy fashion after the computers chose to draw very early in the game. I had hoped that the Radio Shack 2150L would have had some fighting spirit after mounting a nice comeback in the match, but I think that previous game took the wind out of his sails. So Ivan advances to the Quarter-Finals with a 6.5-4.5 victory.

Excalibur Igor leads 1.0-0.0
Now we have #7 Excalibur Igor vs #10 Radio Shack Chess Master. Game one goes to Igor, in a game with attacks and uncastled Kings on each side. Igor kept the pressure up and managed to win material and convert the win to draw first blood in this match.
[fen]rn2kr2/6pp/1pp1p1q1/p2n4/3PP3/1QB5/PP1R1P1P/4KB1R w Kq - 1 18[/fen]
In this position, instead of taking the Knight (perhaps fearing the Black Queen incursion), White plays the lousy 18. f3??.

Ivan
Yeah, I'm having lots of fun with these. If you're trying to buy an Ivan, try to guy the first edition Ivan instead of the second edition, because supposedly the first edition is stronger. (If you're interesting in strength, that is).

Yes, it is the first edition. I'm looking forward to compare it with my Excalibur Grandmaster .TracySMiller wrote:Yeah, I'm having lots of fun with these. Excalibur Igor leads 1.5-0.5
Here we have one of those Queen and pawns endgames that no one except Masters and above play very well. Both sides miss winning chances, with the following position being the biggest blunder:
[fen]8/8/6pp/2k5/Pp2K1P1/5PP1/8/8 w - - 0 71[/fen]
Black can win with 71...b3, but instead plays the crummy 71...Kc4, allowing White to draw. Igor leads the match 1.5-0.5

The match is tied 1.5-1.5
The Radio Shack Chess Master scores a full point with this well played game, which it won by playing accurate chess, with just one mistake and no blunders! Along the way, though, it managed to fight itself out of a tough position. How'd you like to being playing white here?:
[fen]r3k2r/p4ppp/2p5/2bpP3/3Nn1bq/3QB3/PPP2PPP/RN2K2R w KQkq - 3 12[/fen]
White survived this and went on to create two passed pawns which it used to get the win. The match is now tied 1.5-1.5.

Excalibur Igor takes a 2.5-1.5 lead
The Radio Shack Chess Master went from playing its best in the previous game to playing horrendously in this game, making nine mistakes and three blunders! Ouch. Still, Igor chose to make things harder than he had to by refusing to play the painfully obvious, and winning, 16. Bc5+, in this position:
[fen]r4knr/pp3ppp/8/1B6/5P1n/2P1B3/P3KP1P/R6R w - - 1 16[/fen]
In any event, Igor gets the win and now leads 2.5-1.5.

Excalibur's Igor leads the match 3.0-2.0
A hard fought game, no blunders for either side, and neither unit was able to figure out how to progress, leading to a draw. Igor leads the match 3.0-2.0

Excalibur Igor leads the match 4.0-2.0
13 mistakes and 2 blunders by RS Chess Master leads to an expected loss. You can't play THAT poorly and expect to win. Here's one of its most egregious errors:
[fen]4r1k1/p1q2pp1/2p3bp/2b5/6B1/1PN2QP1/P1P2P1P/3R2K1 w - - 1 24[/fen]
Black has a chance to win the hanging pawn on c2, but chooses not to for some unexplainable reason. It's all downhill after that. Igor leads the match 4.0-2.0.

Excalibur Igor leads the match 4.0-3.0
RS Chess Master comes roaring back to life with a strong tactical game. I guess the English opening suits it. Here's a key position:
[fen]6k1/1r2pp1p/q5p1/2R2b2/5Q2/4P1P1/r4PBP/2R3K1 w - - 0 30[/fen]
White can obviously win the exchange by simply taking the b7 rook with the bishop, but it wins more material with 30. Rxf5!. If black takes the Rook with his pawn, the Queen check on g5 forces Black to block with its Queen (else mate on the back rank), thus leaving its b7 Rook undefended. Igor leads 4.0-3.0.
