W3X K-Chess 2.0 is just horrible and gets checkmated by DB Fritz 1 in just 26 moves.

W3X Arasan 2.0 had its best chance for a win in this position with the move 27. Rxd7! But this opportunity for glory was gone with the wind after playing 28. Ra1. The game ended in a draw.

Round 4 Game 15:

Millennium Chess Genius Pro - MAC RD Chess 2.2.2

RESULT: 1-0

CRITICAL POSITION

[fen]2rq2k1/4p1rb/2Bp4/p1pPb3/1p2N2R/1P2P1pQ/P1P5/1K3R2 w - - 0 32[/fen]

It took a couple of scares and a MAC RD Chess 2.2.2 blunder before Millennium Chess Genius Pro finally gets its first win in ths tournament. The above position 32 moves into the game was still unclear and best move for MAC RD Chess 2.2.2 would have been 32. ... e6. However it is here that MAC RD Chess 2.2.2 blunders with the move 32. ... Rb8? and makes the rest of the game easy for Millennium Chess Genius Pro.

FINAL POSITION

[fen]7k/4p2Q/1r1p1b2/p1pP1B2/1p2N3/1P2P3/P1P5/1K6 w - - 0 42[/fen]

That was not exactly convincing against bottom of the table MAC RD Chess 2.2.2, but a win is win. Right?

GAME QUALITY SUMMARY

Millennium Chess Genius Pro, 30S. (2307)
5 Inaccuracies
6 Mistakes
0 Blunders
42 Average centipawn loss

MAC RD Chess 2.2.2, 30S. (2100)
4 Inaccuracies
5 Mistakes
2 Blunders
66 Average centipawn loss

TABLE AFTER ROUND 4

Image

Ok so we have a new leader with DB M-Chess Pro 3.12. I wonder who would have anticipated that DB Chess Genius 1 to be in second place after 4 rounds.

MAC RD Chess 2.2.2 is now the only program left without points.

Best regards

DIVISION 2 FINAL RANKINGS PREDICTOR AFTER 3 ROUNDS

Image

The average performance over 4 Rounds dropped further to ELO 2066.

There are some bad performers near the bottom of the table who perhaps with hindsight would have been better off playing in Division 3 or Division 4.

Anyway lets see how this progresses through the 12 rounds.

Ok I thought I would put a bit of fun into our two human top 5 prediction volunteers.

Here is how it looks after 4 Rounds:

Image

The way it works is a reversal of points based on the ranking of the program after each round. Therefore with 30 programs playing, the 1st place program receives 30 points and the last placed program receives 1 point.

Based on this after 4 rounds Dave and Tracy have both won 2 rounds each and are therefore tied.

The tie breaker if one is needed after 12 rounds is the cumulative total points as you can see above in the chart.

Therefore based on the tie break Tracy after 4 rounds narrowly leads Dave :)

So far Millennium Chess Genius Pro has been hurting Dave the most and DB Nimzo Guernica has been hurting Tracy the most :P

Best regards
Nick

Here is a photo to provide you an idea on how I play these tournaments.

Image

I tend to use 4 laptops all set at 69,300 cpu cycles to emulate a Pentium 90. Also the laptop on the left since it is the fastest laptop, I use exclusively for Amiga 68060 emulation to allow Sargon 3 to get its maximum speed.

For example Sargon 3 reaches a search depth which is comparable to what Rebel 6 searches at 69,300 cpu cycles, both reach about 9/10 deep in normal play.

Using these 4 laptops lets me always play 2 games simultaneously which is if you ever wondered why I can post so many games so quickly.

For tracking I use Chessbase on my 8 core 4.2 GHz AMD (not seen on the photo other than the monitor) which if needed I can also use to play these emulations. But I rarely do that as I prefer to use it for tracking and saving the games.

I hate using laptop mousepads which is why you can see so many computer mice on my table :)

Best regards
Nick

Yes Nick,

Thanks for the photo, I showed it to the misses who hates my Revelation II being set up on the dining table all the time,
but she agrees it’s less cluttered than your set-up, so you’ve done me a favour 😄

The table leaf opens at the back too, but there’s only 2 of us.

Maybe a bigger picture helps 😄
