Hiarcs 12

Post by Harvey Williamson »

Hello All,

Hiarcs 12 will be released in March by ChessBase and also direct as a UCI engine from Mark.

All H11 customers will receive a discount if they buy the UCI engine from www.Hiarcs.com - If you buy the CB version you will of course also get a serial number for 1 years use of Playchess.com

Both versions will come with a brand new openings book.

As well as Hiarcs 12 you will also receive the engine that won in Paderborn at the end of 2007 - so you will get 2 engines to test and have fun with.

We will add more details as they become available.

Best Wishes,

Harvey

I think they will be released at around the same time. The UCI version will be by download so you will probably get it before a H12 DVD will arrive through the post.

Good news Harvey :D

One question though, will the Chessbase and UCI versions diverge with the UCI version getting, maybe a couple of updates as with H10, whilst the chessbase version remains the same?

Probably a hard question to answer but given I need a playchess serial number shortly I want to make sure I buy the right versions of Hiarcs or Deep Fritz!

Kind regards

Paul

Thanks for the news, Harvey. I currently have a single-CPU computer, but sometime in the summer I might upgrade to a Q6600 or a Phenom; if so, is there a discount on upgrading from SP to MP?

Hi Turbo,

With the UCI version almost certainly yes and almost certainly not with the CB version.

Hi Paul,

Yes a hard question to answer. Personally I would hope updates for both versions but I don't know. As for Df11 I have seen no advertising for this for ages so perhaps you should not be holding your breath.

I've bought HIARCS 10 and 11 (including an upgrade from 11sp to 11mp) directly through Mark and hiarcs.com, but am sad to say that I am seriously considering getting HIARCS 12 through Chessbase.

Ever since "upgrading" to Windows Vista, I've had stability problems with all my UCI engines. That, combined with the year of playchess.com and (likely) the shiny new Fritz 11 gui, and I'm feeling rather wretched for considering utilising the middle man!

Just how much is the discount for HIARCS 11 customers to upgrade to HIARCS 12? Money isn't everything, but the 99 Euros that Chessbase is likely to charge for HIARCS 12 MP is, shall we say, prohibitive and may just change my mind.

Hi,

Welcome to the Hiarcs forum.

It is a tricky decision UCI or CB and I will try to remain impartial. The UCI with your upgrade discount will certainly be cheaper than the CB product. As you say with the CB version you will get a new GUI and also a serial number for Playchess.

As soon as the exact prices/discounts are available we will let you know.

Best Wishes,

Harvey

Post by Jack Clark »

Hi, Harv-

Does what you said here apply to Sigma Chess HIARCS 12 MP? Is it coming out in March, too? Basically on the same terms?

Thanks much.

CB version available soon from www.countrywidecomputers.co.uk and all good Chess Computer stores. UCI version available soon direct from Mark at www.Hiarcs.com

Deep Hiarcs 12
Chess Playing Software
The Ultimate Multi-Core/Multi-Processors Version
For nearly 20 years HIARCS has been among the very best chess programs in the world. Ever since its first World Championship success in 1991 HIARCS has maintained its position as one of the world’s premier chess playing programs.

As recently as December 2007 HIARCS further enhanced its reputation by winning the International Paderborn Computer Chess Championship in Germany ahead of a world class field. HIARCS is famous for its human-like playing style and its ability to come up with the unexpected. Recent HIARCS versions are renowned for sharp attacking chess and a never-say-die attitude to their play.

In HIARCS 12 this playing style has been positively enhanced through a new deeper search and better evaluation of dynamic possibilities. It is capable of building deep attacking positions against the enemy King and executing exciting mating attacks. This new approach enables HIARCS to play interesting, distinctive aggressive chess while being sensitive to the needs of the position. This has improved HIARCS in all phases of the game, and even in quieter positions HIARCS 12 is able to be more selective about the variations it explores to achieve a better understanding than previous versions leading to much stronger play.

As an analysis partner HIARCS is second to none with its ability to learn from the positions it analyses and plays. This is an essential feature for all chess players interested in analyzing games, studies, positions and particularly the opening as it guides HIARCS into a greater understanding of chess positions and their possibilities than ever before.

For many years top chess players have used HIARCS as an important analysis partner for this very reason. This combination of strength, playing style and learning makes HIARCS 12 ideal for all players looking for an intelligent chess partner that learns and improves with you.

A new super strong HIARCS 12 openings book is also included which has been dramatically enhanced with the latest cutting edge chess theory and a wealth of novelties to provide a huge repertoire of finely tuned variations.

For HIARCS fans and engine collectors the Championship winning HIARCS Paderborn 2007 engine is also included.
