ESB Modular Board
I didn't know there was such a thing as a Modular Board for an ESB, I always assumed they were wooden boards. But here is one that I just had to buy when I saw it. Perhaps Steve knows more about these.
Best Regards

aaah yes
called the ESB 3000
should work with your Mephisto III and Mephisto II Briketts
not sure about the Mephisto I as i never tested it
more on the Mephsito 3000 here on Kurts site
if you go through all of the Mephisto modules he will show which boards they worked in
so for example in the listing for the Mephisto II you will see a link to the ESB 3000
http://www.schachcomputer.at/mephisto.htm
Fairly Rare board Regards

Hi Steve
Thanks! I used to look at site quite a lot, pity he never finished it with the other manufacturers.
Since you mention Mephisto 1, I have a Mephisto I but in a Mephisto II housing do you know when they started to put them into Mephisto II housings, you know the double switches on the top. Or is this known as the Mephisto X ?
Best regards
Nick

no i cant say when that Happened
in fact i am not certain that Mephisto actually sold the I in the brikett II
its possible that the previous owner of the Mephisto did that switch
for collecting purposes i think the proper combination is the Mephisto I belongs in the Brikett I
Mephisto II belongs in the Brikett II
and the Mephisto III belongs in the Brikett III
although i think all three Mephistos will work in all Three Briketts(havent tested every possible combo though)
as to the Mephisto X...
i have heard about this but i am fairly certain it was not officially released for sale so it could be some modification or prototype or something like that

No no mistakes, Serial number on the module and on the housing are identical. I discussed this before at Ismenio's
http://users.boardnation.com/~chesscomp ... 4;start=60
There has to be another explanation for it. It is a Mephisto I module I tested it in game tests.
best regards

yes perhaps he know what i mean.
Perhaps i can not explain correct because of my bad English.
I will ask Harvey..
You can give links a name, and this you can do with HTML or with BBCode in forums. The principle is the same.
Thanks José

I had all three out today to take a closer look MI, MII & the MIII. The MIII which came with the ESB 3000 has the little Mephisto paper logo which you get often on their computers. The other two don't. There is no mistake with the Mephisto I it came in a Mephisto II housing. Here are the photos:
Here is the front view:
And back view
As you can see the serial number is the same.
However I did notice a difference when I looked closer at the front.
Mephisto II and Mephisto III both say on the first switch EIN/AUS/NETZ and AUS/EIN/BATT.
The Mephisto I in the photo only says AUS/EIN nothing else 2 words compared to 6.
So as you can see I am still not sure what happened here.
Hi Robert:Robert Weck wrote:Hi Nick,
did you test, whether you could connect your Mephisto I/II to your ESB? The ESB-plug did not fit into the old Mephisto I-brikett (at least mine)
And i don't know, whether the Mephisto I module was compatible with an ESB?
best regards,
Robert
I tested both the Mephisto I and Mephisto II housings and I also placed the Modules into the Mephisto III. None of that works.
The Mephisto III only works with my ESB inside its own housing.
All the best
Nick

hi Nick
its interesting to see the serial number on your Mephisto 1 module
i dont think i even have a serial number on my Mephisto I
it must have fallen off after all of these years
conversely I am thinking that these labels can also be removed and replaced onto other computers as well by a previous owner?
Hmmm Regards

My Mephtisto I, Mephisto II and Mephisto III have Serial Numbers on the module and on the Housing and each one matches against the other.
The user manual (the photo from yesterday) has this Ein/Aus switch here is the pic a close up from the photo, my Mephisto I housing has exactly the same switch.
You know that your Mephsito II and III has 3 words on the bottom and 3 on the top of the left switch. Do you know of any other housing that just have the 2 words Ein/Aus?
So I have a user manual that matches my machine a housing that is dfferent to Mephisto II or III and matching serial numbers. There is too much consistancy here for someone to make swap outs... Besides I only bought it for a few $'s from someone who was not a collector.
So for me I still have an unexplained mystery in my hands
I think you can clearly see just the Ein/Aus switch on the left image.
ps. Overtom also has exactly what I have so I am not alone in this.
All the head scratching best
Nick
