Thanks for these informations - in case you want some hints to make that computer a little bit faster - please feel free to ask me. My Skulltrail is capable of running at 4.2 GHz, but CPUs get a little hot at that speed, so mine runs at 4 GHz. Anyway - the performance difference 3.6 GHz - 4 GHz is really small - less than 5%

Round 4 should be starting soon. I think the game should be broadcast in the playchess broadcast room. As soon as the game starts between Hiarcs and Rybka I will post the moves and update as the game progresses Very Happy

The game has started and Hiarcs opened with the queens gambit. It appears that Hiarcs has sacrificed a pawn in exchange for counterplay, 19.Ne4!

Game 4 was one of the best games I have ever watched. Hiarcs really showed its attacking style right from the get-go. Choosing a pawn sacrifice in exchange for good counter play Hiarcs took the lead a few moves after the opening and held it for a while even down a pawn. Hiarcs was ahead as much as 0.25 even down a pawn and had Black not knowing what to do with its black bishop in the middlegame. In the end though the extra pawn allowed Rybka to barely escape with a draw after material was exchanged out. Rybka used quite a bit of time on moves that were clearly obvious like 28...a6 and 30...Bxc5 which was odd. Black ended up using almost a hour more time then white. All in all it was a good game and congrats to the Hiarcs team for playing a wonderful game Very Happy

Game 4 was the the clash of the titans for this tournament, personally I loved the attacking style of Hiarcs in the game, it really felt like you were watching a strong GM attacking with gusto........

Here Rybka plays Nbd7 which is marked !? in the H12 book, seems a bit passive and I'd personally play Bb4 (which is the H12 book prefered line)

Very natural looking move, hindering Rybkas ability to push through the centre whilst reducing the power of the dark squared bishop

In the game I thought this was a strange move from Rybka, but on reflection I assume it was looking to try and free up the centre in the future and didn't want any nasty looking checks from the Bishop landing on e5?

Whilst the engines rate this position as pretty much 0.00, you've got to admire the human way Hiarcs has generated this attack, if you had this position in a club game you'd be feeling pretty happy.........well I would anyway!

It was a nice-looking game, though I don't really see any other way that this could have ended from the line out of book--even though things look exciting, options on both sides were really fairly restricted. I don't think that ...Nbd7 was bad, and putting the bishop on b4 also would have led to some problems, as then black's kingside could be torn apart more quickly.

Unfortunately, as it's almost certain that both players will win the rest of their games (barring a colossal blunder), it looks like we'll have a tie for first. It's amusing how some people on here were rating Leiden as so good and "prestigious" when only two strong computers/engines are present, and when these are very vastly ahead of the rest of the field.
