Day 1.

2 rounds were scheduled for today but only 1 was played. There was the usual welcome to all and the explanation that we were now 10 programs. Diep pulled out as did the Australian program. falcon played this morning on a laptop v the mobile phone the rest of us did not do much.

This afternoon an improvement was made to the internet which allowed the remaining round 1 games to be played with several disconnections. This was still not really satisfactory.

One possible solution is that we play at the Hotel tomorrow where the internet seems ok. The logistics of getting a router and 10 cables would be a problem. However Hiarcs team to the rescue Razz Razz

I managed to configure my Macbook to be a wireless router and so now all can connect to the internet through it. A final decision has not been made about where we will play round 2 but we have the option to play here.

Tomorrow we are white v Jonny in round 2.

Some pictures of day 1 will follow soon......(hmm maybe not so soon I cant upload them will work on it)

Some pictures of day 1 will follow soon......

Cool ! Well done harvey ! Long live the Macintosh !

thats very sad.
i would have liked to see him participating.

shit.

can't you try to convince him to try to participate anyway ?

he could try participating with a standard ChessMaster engine as sold and e.g. with my styling... even if he has no LATEST version with him.

his fans all over the world would really enjoy seeing THE KING participating.

Any reasons why Diep and that Aussie program quitted? Due to the internet problems?

Greetings,

The Aussie program was new and was not working properly. Vincent had been in China for a week and decided to go home - no more details.

Hi folks,
since in China the access to the photos seems blocked I am now giving you some photos Harvey sent me.

This first one is from the opening ceremony:

This one is the author of Deep Blue, speaking at the opening ceremony (the guy in the striped shirt) :

Here we go with the only game of the morning between Falcon and the infamous Mobile Phone. The Falcon author Omid is having a relaxed lunch, while beating the phone Wink

This is Cluster Toga's operator Timo Klaustermeyer during the game of Round 1 vs. Hiarcs:

Last but not least some entertainment with the Rubik's cube, which Hans van der Zijden in this situation solved within 23 seconds, according to Harvey.

More impressions surely to come soon, so stand by for more.

Regards,
Sebi
