|
|
At last my prays were listened by God -say, Mr Blincoe- and a Fidelity 9 is on the way to my hands.
As you surely knows I have been in love with Fidelity stuff since ever and this F9 was the one I lacked. I had already one, got in eBay, but never worked.
F9 is kind of enhanced Champion Chess Challenger, my first truly love. It plays probably 50-100 elo stronger even with a processor slightly slower. Maybe he is 1600-160 Elo, so I should beat it every time, BUT you never know with these magnificent machines. Just one or two mistakes coming from too much confidence or neglect and you are lost.
Nothing better to keep your chess acumen sharp that to play a machine you must win, BUT only keeping an eye all the time over the board.
Ahhhh, a great new in the middle of so much grief regards

I remember you saying you had a non working one. If you can get the
back off it, you may fix it, just an oxide build-up over the years has
broken a circuit. Then you will have two of them.
A great machine for it's day. You can enjoy a win/loss ratio with it
while on your back porch. The pieces fit in the back, runs on adaptor
or batteries, and a light on every square. They are *not* rare, you
often see them on ebay. It was a big production run, with good reason.
all the best

Larry, I have not the equipment and the knowledge to fix the broken F9. Perhaps I can open it, but then what. Maybe even I could see a clearly hanging wire or so, but as the new F9 is not still here I will keep my hands off. Once F9 is here, I can dare to experiment with the dead stuff.

But to rule would require them to win one every now and then. Don't see that happening. |

I will play the Lopez, the one I am playing these days, but not BxC. My move is old reliable B-a4.
Not good for sharp continuations regards
