Collector's Corner.September 2007..A Month To Be Remembered?

Post by Steve B »

Perhaps

this month the following dedicated chess computers are expected to ship to eager owners:
Excalibur Phantom Force
Excalibur Mirage II
Phoenix Resurrection II
Phoenix Revelation

if so..this month will go down in the annals of schachcomputer history as the Father of all chess computer months

Mark And Remember Regards

they will both have the same program(Deluxe Talking Touch Chess) and features ..but the cosmetics are different
there will be different color pieces and the Mirage II is only a black plastic housing while the PF is a rubberized housing

Shouldn't we have contests of skill rather than wild guessing?

Hi Steve, hi Terry,

Nice to see you again. And a pleasure that it is here.

A friend of mine is looking for a dedicated computer that is pocket size (large pocket?), strong enough to challenge a 2000-2200 player, nice looking and with a touch screen. Does it exist?

Civilized forum for a change regards,
Enrique

the pleasure is of course all mine to see your posting presence here Professor

there are several dedicated units that will satisfy the strong chess ability of your friend
here is the well known but much maligned Novag Star Sapphire(Kittinger Engine)rated 2150 Elo:

maligned because some complain about how the pieces look
i dont mind them so much though

Squinting Regards

Hi Enrique!

Nice to see you here as well!

Steve will shoot me for this, but your friend could consider getting a PPC and load it with commercial programs that will suit their needs.

Steve suggestion is good also. However, not as flexible. And less squinting

So Many Choices Regards,
Terry

Thank you both for your advise. A small portable computer is more flexible, but much bigger and more expensive. The Novag you show, Steve, looks like the basic idea, but isn’t there anything prettier or fancier and easier to see?

Maybe something like the Ipaq with pocket Fritz or similar?

Enrique
