Hello All,

I have added a poll to the 1st post - please vote! I am going to Sticky this thread until the tournament ends. During the games I hope to be in direct contact with Erdo, the Zappa operator. I will relay the games and his comments live here along with analysis by Hiarcs of course.

Best Wishes,

Harvey

This is the manufacturer:

Polywell Computers, Inc.
http://www.polywell.com
1461 San Mateo Ave
So. San Francisco, CA 94080, USA
650-583-7222, Ext. 137 Fax: 650-583-1974

The mainboard can't be Intel, as Intel boards have no floppy connector.
I think, the board is a Tyan Tempest i5000XT (S2696WA2NRF), but i am not shure.

A New Recipe

Post by Harvey Williamson »

Hello All,

Just to get you in the mood for Mexico I thought it was time for a new recipe. A team of top Chefs have been working on this for days:

Killer Fish(Rybka) Tacos

The chef suggests using what's fresh rather than strict adherence to the recipe. Substitute any fresh firm fish for the Rybka. Use local fresh fruits for the fruit salsa.

Serves 8 (2 tacos each)

I N G R E D I E N T S
16 taco shells
2 lb Rybka fillet,
medium diced
1/2 cup chipotle chiles canned in adobo, pureed
1 cup red onionsmall diced
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbsp kosher salt

Fresh Fruit Salsa
1 cup kiwi fruit, small diced
1 cup pineapple,
small diced
1 cup mango, small diced
1 cup papaya, small diced
2 avocados,
small diced
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
2 limes

Prepare the fruit salsa by dicing the ingredients small enough to fit into a prepared taco shell — smaller than a fruit salad, but not so small that the fruit turns to mush. Combine the fruit, avocado and cilantro. Refrigerate until ready to use. The holding time is about 24 hours as the fruit starts to break down. Also note that if you intend to prepare the salsa in advance, don't add the avocado until immediately before serving, as avocado turns brown quickly.

I N S T R U C T I O N S
Dice the red onion and puree or finely chop the chipotles.

Dice the fish into 1-inch pieces.

Pat fish dry and season with salt. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over moderate-high heat. Add the onions and saute them for 1 minute; add the fish and fry for about 3 minutes until just cooked. Add the chipotle chiles, stir for 1 more minute and remove from heat.

Fill taco shells halfway with fish mixture, then top with fruit salsa.

Eat immediately.

I wonder if Harvey buys his fish there? If so then I now finally know why he is always so insane
hey Harvey eat less Mexican fish and drink more British beer, it will be good for your brain cells and your stomach.

Ehem focussing on the topic I'd like to say:
Go Zappa Go - I don't wanna see another Rybka win - it bores me :(

Best regards,
Sebastian

A problem in Mexico

Post by Harvey Williamson »

The latest Breaking News here on the Hiarcs forum:

There is a problem with the machines in Mexico. They have not arrived. So after the Rybka v Junior match was cancelled mainly due to remote hardware not being allowed - it now looks like Rybka v zappa will be played on remote hardware.

Zappa will play on my 5355 8 core machine which is similar to the machine that had been ordered. I will send Convekta a bill for the rental. :)

There is a Press Conference in Mexico later today when amongst other things we hope to find out at what time game 1 will be played tomorrow.

Best Wishes,

Harvey

ps. As the games are now by remote Mark as an independent expert is willing to examine the source of both remote engines to ensure fair play.

Ouuutch...

That sounds really bad.
In this case, i would lend my computer to Vas, as i did several times before.

But i can also offer to use both my 2x X5365 computers, one for Rybka, one for Zappa. They are both of equal strength. In case you trust me. Both have 2x X5365, 8 GB of RAM and 15k rpm SCSI harddisks. One has an Intel S5000XVN, the other one has an Intel S5000PSL. Both have an Adaptec 39320.

Best regards,
Lukas

PS. Harvey, that would cost you (or Zappa team) a remote version of Zappa. :)

Hi Lukas,

Thanks for the offer. The decision as far as Zappa goes is up to Anthony and Erdo. I think though at this short notice as all the engines and books etc are already on my machine it is probably the easiest solution.

As soon as I hear more I will post it here.

Who knows maybe the machines will turn up in Mexico?!

Best Wishes,

Harvey
