d++ coming home

Post by mclane »

a few days ago i got an analyst module from vitali.
it was an exchange of computer hardware, and the analyst module was my part of the deal.

i had sold my analyst D++ long time ago.
over the years i got back the corona with the D+ version, but had no d++ anymore.

the sparc played in my tournament, but there was a gap in my heart, not having the d++ myself. my friend uli had a d++ and played some games for me in my tournament. but the machine was not that succesful. it can be that it was uli, who manipulated the game with his negative prejudices and comments about : how the D++ gives away games with a blunder move,
in opposite to the d+.

so i continued the games of the d++ version for my tournament.
i began with 2 games: against schachakademie (10 mhz overclocked to 24 mhz) and against the supermondial B. Both having a program by frans morsch.

the game against the schachakademie (that had the better and faster hardware) was a victory of playing a positional way against a tactical program.

the game against the supermondial was more difficult.
here the supermondial was able to make a pawn win, and was 1 pawn ahead.
but then supermondial made a mistake. he put his white pawns on e4 and d5 and put the white bishop on a8.
from this time , the bishop was practically not on board anymore.
so d++ was able to get a pawn back and even push these pawns into promotion-situation.

so after 2 games, d++ at my home scored 2 from 2.

here the games, you maybe want to take a look into them:

the 3rd game was against the Spracklen Fidelity Excel 68000.

After a very long opening line where Excel was twice in
and out again, D++ continued with positional superior playing.
Excel really evaluated the position strange.
e.g. after these moves, it evaluated its own position with +0.11 when playing Rfb8.
I don't understand this at all. White has a massive positional advantage.

Great Report Thor

i think you are the worlds leading expert on this D++ Release by Kaplan

i am always trying to translate your famous and historical report on the differences between the D,D+ and D++

perhaps one day you can quickly summarize the differences for those of us that are language challenged
