Junior 12.5 assertion failure

Post by tomgdrums »

I just tried to use the new DJ 12.5 and every time I tried to have it analyze a position it would cause a Microsoft Assertion failure (whatever that is) and I would have to "debug" it to get it to work.

What would cause that, and will there be a fix?

I have deleted 12.5 from my computer until I know more about this issue.

Thanks for your help!

And for some more info it would say that it was a C++ error AND when I would say retry it would then make me wait and THEN DJ 12.5 would work. Except this would happen everytime I started the GUI up again.

And it is no the GUI as every other engine working well.

Thanks again!

And a little more info:

I AM able to use DJ 12.5 in Chessbase premium lite, and in the Shredder 10 GUI. I can't seem to get it to work in the Shredder 12 GUI for whatever reason. I even reinstalled the Shredder 12 GUI and that didn't help. Every time I want to use it in the Shredder 12 GUI I get the assertion failure warning and I need to "retry" and then it stalls and then it works.

I will be honest and say I am confused.

Thanks for any and all help.

I even tried reinstalling the Microsoft C++ pack for windows. And DJ 12.5 and the Shredder 12 GUI do no work together as explained above. DJ 12.5 does work in the chessbase 9 and the Shredder 10 GUI.

I re-downloaded Junior 12.5 again and this time a new error occurred in the Shredder 12 GUI:

Error (File checksum %s): db3b0cd36db809022bfa4129dda35750
Error (Running in reduced performance mode):
Engine: Deep Junior 12.5 (Win32) UCI (318 MB)
by Amir Ban / Shay Bushinsky

And then the old error also occurred.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

I as a customer got a message from Mark today:

"Dear Deep Junior Chess Friends,

Sadly there was some issues with Deep Junior 12.5 released yesterday, please
accept our apologies. Amir has made a correction and the new corrected
version is available now. If you downloaded 12.5 in the last 24 hours please
uninstall the 12.5 version and download and install the latest PC Deep
Junior 12.5 installer here:

You do NOT need to re-enter your license key.

Best wishes,
Mark"

I tried the new download on the Hiarcs page and the old error still occurred and the following new error also now occurred:

I don´t know. Maybe Amir see your bug posting.

Try the 64bit engine! I read in the other forum CSS that it works under Chessbase und Shredder GUI now.

I have a 32 bit system so I don't think the 64 bit version would work??

Would it?

I had the same issue. This error has occurred when I was analysing the following position in MultiThread mode without TBs:

[fen]8/8/5N2/8/8/8/4Kpb1/5Qbk w - - 0 1[/fen]

By the way Junior 12.5 is unable to find winning Ng4 without tablebases (mate in 9)! I guess that's because it evaluates minor vs minor as a draw. Need to be fixed.

New game
8/8/5N2/8/8/8/4Kpb1/5Qbk w - - 0 1
