just how much much longer would it have taken to post this right side up??
http://www.ebay.com/itm/novag-carnelian ... 1449664832
I can just imagine this guy..frantically pressed for time..having to actually ship the computer
probably would stuff it in a paper bag..slap some stamps on it and toss it in the "outgoing mail" bin
this leaves a very bad impression for potential bidders...

read the questions and answers for the auction
i got a kick out of the "child like" questions asked by the bidders to the clearly not- very- knowledgeable seller so he can understand them

read the questions and answers
question, because the answer may push the price up, which might
not be what you want to happen. The price on this thing does seem
low considering only a little over a day for the auction to run. I like
the machine, but I'm frankly sick of having too many units in the
collection minus original boxes.

this one has its box
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chess-Set-Fidel ... 1284042808
Anyway...
for years i have cautioned those new to the hobby ..dont rush Pell Mell with arms akimbo into buying computers without the boxes
sooner or later you will regret it
wait...eventually the computer you want will appear with its box, manual and pieces..wait
patience.. is the mark of the true collector
at first the advice seems strange..odd..silly even..
the advice is seldom heeded
dismissed by new enthusiasts as the rantings of an ancient tribal elder
but then ..as time passes... the truth in it finally dawns upon them

Look at the bidding history for this Excalibur Karpov
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Karpov-2294-Che ... 1306595959
1 bidder with 86 bids ..all by the same bidder?
dont get it?
if there was another bidder pushing this bidder up ..1 buck at a time.. his name would show in the bidders list at least once
seems like his automatic bidding agent is spinning out of control
Gimbal Lock Regards

I bailed at around $500, considering there was no guarantee it even
worked properly, and it was basically a bare board anyway.

Maybe because the reserve wasn't met, ebay allowed him to re-bid?Steve B wrote:Look at the bidding history for this Excalibur Karpov

When there is a reserve it will show reserve not met but i am sure once it as gone over the reserve price it is not mentioned again and it does make sense of the bidsIts not a "Reserve Price " auction

direct quote from Ebay..
A reserve price is the lowest price a seller is willing to sell an item. Other members can't see the reserve price, but they'll see that a listing has a reserve and whether it's been met.
anyway..i asked the seller if this was ever a Reserve auction
he repied it was so i guess you are correct
Regards
Steve
Hey Steve, yes I also thought it was weird that there were 86 bids on this one, and I also had to look at the bidding history to investigate. That's where is says "reserve met".. No mystery.Steve B wrote:Its not a "Reserve Price " auction9RX wrote:Maybe because the reserve wasn't met, ebay allowed him to re-bid?Steve B wrote:Look at the bidding history for this Excalibur Karpov
