Hi Steve,

Well i have said this before, personally i am glad these people are around
Not for the tuning ore what so ever(that is for every one personal what he like/prefer), but think when one of your PCB of any of your boards is really dead and can not be repaired any more?
What then? leave it dead, ore get a new PCB for it ,and have another many years joy of that chess computer .And i think he can do original speed as well ,but that i am not 100% sure off
Of course it would not be 100% original any more but i prefer it working then dead.
But at the end ,have fun and enjoy, discuss our hobby is the main goal i think

These main board upgrades will sell well because they can always be
resold some time in the future, even at a profit. Also, the seller has
established himself as a guy who knows what he is doing, so he gets
work other than on ebay. He is offering a legitimate service, and I hope
he stays around.
I do understand Steve's feelings but a working modified computer
beats a non working original one.

Yeah well...
good fakes of Rolex Watches or Tiffany Lamps always sell well
but they are still fakes
Crack Cocaine sells well but it is still an illegal drug

I would modify (pun intended)your statement to read

a repaired original computer beats a non-working original one

I have had dozens of computers repaired over the years
never once did I want to modify them or overclock them or upgrade them in the process

if the Father of all modders helps folks repair their chess computers that's a good thing
but to sell fake rare computers is quite another matter entirely
the only thing different with this guy is he is not hiding in some dark alley way wearing a long trench coat with fake mother boards hanging on the inside of it ..whispering at unsuspecting passersby...
"Pssst...Buddy..looking for a V5?"
no..he is selling them in plain view..On Ebay

I realize I am in the minority when it comes to guys like this but "true" collecting has no easy shortcuts.....no quick fixs..its hard painstaking work
patience... is the key

XXX Hardcore Collecting Regards

This one really takes the cake

Seller has the power adaptor and he knows full well that the computer is broken
rather then admit that he offers it"AS IS"
with the feeble excuse that he dosent know how to turn it on
dosent take a Rocket Scientist to know you simply slide the switch to "ON"

Apparently he can't even flip the battery door off and slip
a few batteries in.

I did'nt know there was such an animal. I've got the 'A' and 'B', but
never heard of the 'E'.
What's the difference? Steve?...anyone?...

Steve B wrote:The Master Modder is at it again
this time you can modify your Fidelity EAG/EAS with this Mother board to a Modified dual processor Fidelity V5
in keeping with the non authentic spirit of the whole auction..
it includes a copy of the manual and a copy of the V5/V8 addendum
dont see the Spracklen letter which was included in the real manual discussing the actual speedup achieved with the dual processors
i guess he couldn't copy that
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chess-Computer- ... 20e9809e34

What he cannot copy is this....

My Guess is it sells for big bucks

A Fake Is Still A Fake Regards
Steve
The Mod Master closed the auction early ..
posted it as... NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE
last time I looked there were 3 bidders
he probably accepted an offer to "go around Ebay"

The day before cancelling he added the following:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On 29-Jul-14 at 23:07:32 BST, seller added the following information:
I have decided on reflection to issue a power-adaptor to be used with this system. The adaptor will be suitable for 110 to 240 VAC power systems
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't know if that's relevant. Rest assured his email box runs hot from
people asking for special mod jobs.

Nice condition Fidelity Elegance B
seller says he has the manual and he mentions a photo of the manual but there is no photo
pieces don't look like the original ones

a bit pricey but easily manageable by the members here

Two pictures of the manual now, all seems in excellent condition. I
bought my Elegance new and it will be part of my estate. A really
neat chess computer.
