http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOVAG-Star-Diam ... 1768868768?
So, this unit has been re-listed: the Novag Star Diamond for $3,250.00. I mention this because, a couple of weeks ago, I sold my Novag Diamond II (previously mentioned) in mid November by auction which ended at about $385.00. My unit was pretty-much in mint condition (except the box which was in good condition) with everything original.
I must admit that I had expected a higher result (the buyer got a heckuva deal!), though obviously, nothing remotely like what the guy wants for his Star Diamond. I'm not sure what to make of it. Does this mean that some of the boards that have been viewed in the relatively rare category are not going for as much these days?
I also sold a Fidelity Designer 2265, also in mint condition by auction and received $335.00 for it. I didn't find that quite as much a surprise though I do think that units like that went for as high as $400-500 a year or two ago.
Christmas Presents Will Be Likewise Downsized This Year Regards,

Dave,
As we all know, there are dreamers out there. Some of these machines are priced on the premise that there is - is or will be - someone out there willing to pay a price that can only be described as insane. Sometimes I wonder whether people selling these things really don't have a real desire to sell them at all, but simply put them up for sale via an official channel in the 0.01% hope that someone will come along one day and bite. I see this with classic cars all the time. Someone wanting $50K for a Starion worth $4K at best, or a Corona GT5 for $60K when it is worth $2K.
On the other hand, maybe these sellers are deliberately setting out to dupe someone into buying something for 10 times it's upper price limit or they are completely and utterly clueless. Hard to tell sometimes. But it happens everywhere, not just with chess computers.
Chess Computers are no different to classic cars Regards

This auction looks a little suspect to me. Why would the Saitek factory tape over a self-closing battery compartment like this? Especially with tape that looks suspiciously like what I buy from the post office to seal boxes with To me it looks more like the compartment is broken and the tape was put there to stop the door and batteries from falling out. It doesn't even look new anyway.
