I guess its the module Mike
if I were looking for a Ren Brute I would pay up to $1000..but that's me I guess
theres a Ren Sparc on ebay which has 20 bidders and a current price of about $1400(as I write)
to be honest the large Wooden Saitek boards(Leonardo,Galileo and Ren) don't generally generate the same bidding frenzy as the large wooden Fidelity boards or even the large Novag wooden boards
never understood why that is exactly ..but..

Way It Is Regards
Steve
Yes, I think it is the Brute Force module driving the price up. I saw a Ren board in good condition sell for around $800 recently and one in new condition sold for $1,250. The Brute Force modules almost never appear for sale.

Good luck....regards,
Dave

Anyone feeling lucky?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-RARE-Wood-F ... Sw8w1X8F7o

not buying the Sellers "theory" that the original owner cut the cord to use it as a regular chess board after it became defective
the cord that leads out from the computer is about the size of the cut cord anyway ...
what has been cut are the two pronged connectors
if the owner was gonna cut the cord he would cut the whole cord and not leave the same sized piece hanging with the connecting leads sliced off..makes no sense
im guessing the seller cut the leads off to be able to claim he couldn't test it.. to leave some hope it might be working if an adapter is attached to the sliced cord

you can bet this baby is defective when an adapter is attached
probably a bunch of defective reed switches

Auction closed at $610, and that in as-is non working condition with light spots and missing everything but the board! I figured fair value would have been half that, but it looks like someone really wanted a shot at fixing it. Just last month a complete and working EAG V2 went on Ebay for just over a $1000, so go figure.

A word of warning to anyone that thinks that a nice looking EAG must work as good as it looks. A couple of years ago I bought a beautiful EAG that was sold as non-working no adapter and had high hopes that it would work as good as it looked. It didn't. I ended up having to replace the female and male end of the power supply connector, and the female end of the adapter connector, four diodes and all 64 reed switches on the sensor boards, and each button pad needed to be desoldered and cleaned. It works flawlessly now. Of course, this current auction could be great and need nothing, but until the unit is powered up there is no way to be sure.

Seller has updated his auction description and managed to test the v2
seems the g1 reed switch is dead...
I have replaced reed switches on computers where the reeds are easy to get to but on the EAG's its a pain because you need to remove everything to get to them and almost invariably I hit upon a stripped screw (or three) that cannot be removed...but that's just me I guess...

Fidelity SU9 Super Sensory for sale

Post by mephisto_bishop »

Fidelity Super "9" still really underpriced here. I'd get it if I didn't already have one with box.

Went for CAD$125. Someone got a good buy provided they don't
live too far away from the seller. Have you noticed shipping prices
are becoming atrocious nowadays?

Shipping is getting silly, it's made worse by our subject matter, chess computers tend to be large bulky items, by the time you get an outer carton around them you end up with an enormous heavy parcel.

Also for sellers is the risk of fraud, tracked express services are the only way to mitigate any of that and that all adds to the cost.

My sale of a Star Diamond is falling through due to postage costs. Buyer is in Russia ( a country I chose not to ship to in setting up the sale - no idea how he won?!) Ignoring my international conditions he's asked for me to send it normal Royal Mail....... right............I'm sure that'll get there........!!!!

Even shipping in the UK is steep a 2kg parcel with Royal Mail Special Delivery was £27......!

Actually it was the short distance shipments I had in mind. The parcel
I received from you seemed reasonable especially considering how
quick it arrived. The "per kilometre" price was quite low. Locally, I've
turned down buying opportunities because on low priced items the
shipping cost can easily be higher than the value of the item itself.
In my country we have to deal with the tyranny of distance...just
something we live with.

Don't worry Larry I was already assuming that your package was excluded ;-)

Look at the cost of shipping to Aus, versus shipping to Moscow at £70, and shipping within the UK at £27, the economics don't make a lot of sense to my simple mind like you say.
