Hi Paul, no time for conditional moves here tonight either, it's after 11pm.

47.Qc2+ Kh8
48.Qg2 Kh7
49.f5 Qe7
Hope you do ok against the kid. Chess is a youngsters game nowadays,
gone are the days of the stereotype 60 year olds bent over a chess
board.
all the best

Hi everyone,

In this position palm hiarcs also plays 49..Qe7 and then shows: 50.e6 Qc5+ 51.Kf4 Qc7 52.Kg5 and it still looks like a draw, hiarcs show +0.26.

Yes Larry palm hiarcs has a rating of 2609 an it is a FIDE rating because it did it playing against human fide rated players and it is still pending a finishing match against RES II which for the moment it is even.

Wardy i also hope you do ok. in your chess game. Old people can also play chess very strong, look Korchnoi he is over 70 and still playing above 2500.

Regarding conditionals, they can take a lot of extra time to find even
at this stage of the game, I'm finding. So I'll make them only when they
are rather obvious. Still, if we respond quickly the game will be soon
decided.

50.Qe4 Kg8

Good morning all,

The SD's reply is Kf3. I'm temporarily without fen posting abilities as my PC is currently analysing my latest loss so I can't start Arena just yet

If neither machine makes any progress or mistakes in the next 5 moves or so I think I may offer the draw............though the SD still believes it's up by nearly a full pawn!

50 move rule regards

Hi Paul, Sorry to hear about your loss to the kid. Did you slap him around
the ears?
Regarding the impending drawn game, I would'nt think it good
etiquette to offer a draw when SD still considers it a plus score for
itself. Nor when BLP was a pawn down.
51.Kf3 Qd7
score 0.00 depth 9/21

Hi Larry,

I don't mind losing if I play well but last night I was terrible!!

I've heard the chess police are on there way to confiscate my computers and pieces as I'm a danger to myself with them

If anyone has any tips on how to conquer stupidity at the board then I'm all ears. Against computers I can play a decent game, at correspondance I can play a decent game, stick me in front of an opponent against the clock and I just can't do it!?!? I can't get my brain to make even the easiest calculations, I get paralysed with a mix of fear, apprehension and wanting to win so much I lose the logical part of mind. To be fair I've only been playing OTB stuff again for a few months but any help appreciated!!!

You're right that I shouldn't curtail the game whilst the SD can't see the draw. Move to follow once I get home from work!

Best regards

Paul

the same thing happened to me years ago when i played competitively

i was paired against a kid who was so young and so short they needed to put a telephone book under him so he could see the board!

everyone was watching our game and needless to say i lost horribly..and with the black side of a Petroff.. which was in my opening repertoire no less!

there should be a rule..

you are not paired with anyone less then half your age ..

and height Regards

Sounds like the same kid, did he look like Harry Potter too?! I just wish I could be consistent, ah well.........

Now back to business......

Depth was part way through the 11th, score is a much more reasonable +0.21 which is the lowest it's been since the SD left book!

Onwards regards

Not sure that was SD's best continuation. Black's outside passer might
become a problem if the queens come off.

51.Kf3 Qd7
52.e6 fxe6
if f5xe6 then Qd3+

score 0.48 for black regards

At least the SD realises it's now in trouble, score is -0.19

Who would have thought that the game would have swung like this?!

Hi Paul, Yes it looks like the tide is turning. Still, SD may
hold on.
I think you missed my conditional move, but no problems.

52.e6 fxe6
53.fxe6 Qd3+
if 54.Kf4 then 54....Qxe4+
if 54.Qxd3 then 54....cxd3

all the best

yes very startling turn of events
all commencing with the SD's dubious pawn sac(?) 45.Kf2

if the SD should somehow manage to lose this game i shall be offering mine for sale on Ebay in disgrace

Hi Larry,

Sorry, I did miss your conditional move but it was rather early in the morning for me  I've now been called away from home over night with work so unless I can convince the Missus to make some moves on the SD this evening I won't be able to play another move until tomorrow evening (Saturday morning for you I guess)

Many apologies and I hope thats OK

Absolutely right Steve, even someone who loses to a mere child could see that the pawn sac was doomed to failure!
