Sebastian Boehme wrote:Hi everybody,

I will be operating HIARCS at Paderborn and will try to broadcast the games on the playchess server if possible, but I do not want to promise too much as I do not know yet how the Internet there is going to be.

The field of participants promises some exciting games: Rybka, Shredder, Diep, GridChess, Spike and of course our beloved Hiarcs. (A list with all participants can be found here: http://wwwcs.uni-paderborn.de/~IPCCC/ --- and Click on Participants)

I will post all the games in the tournament's thread as soon as these games are finished. Looking forward to read some of your comments on these games in this thread.

For now: Merry Christmas to all of you and your Families and be blessed.

Kind Regards,
Sebastian

It would be nice if you could steal a copy of the current Sos, Johnny, Gandalf and Spike. I wouldnt even mind paying for the new versions.

We will play ParSOS in a few minutes with the black pieces as our 1st round opponent. They will be using a 40 processors webserver by "Emerson" or similarly written, according to the author.

Sebastian

Little report from Round 1

Post by Sebastian Boehme »

First of all I'd like to show you our first win by Hiarcs.
ParSOS for a long time was able to keep it quite even but blundered near the endgame as you can see in the development of scores.
22... e5 was crucial here; ParSOS played 23. Re1 which made Hiarcs scores rise clearly.

Here 23. dxe5 maybe had been better?

Some more Information about Paderborn right here:

Rybka won its 1st round game as Black vs. Gandalf
So did Shredder with the white pieces vs. IsiChess

The former GridChess was able to win its first game vs. Diep.
GridChess has been renamed to ClusterToga now.

The 1st round game between Johnny and Spike is currently still running. I will keep you informed on the result.

Kind regards so far,
Sebastian

The other results of round 2:

Cluster Toga vs. Shredder Draw

Spike won with black vs. Diep

IsiChess vs. ParSOS a Draw

And the game between Gandalf (White) and Jonny (black) is still running at the moment.
The result will be posted as soon as it's known. Right before I will now leave let me tell you: Jonny is showing 6.60 in its favour, Gandalf score is - 5.76. So Jonny should have really good chances to win its game.

I think that there was no justification for the draw.
Maybe rybka could win the game.

Hiarcs was wrong in evaluating black as better and maybe it could convince hiarcs to blunder and lose the game.

Movei lost against rybka for the same reason from the final position in 1+1 game and I posted the game in the rybka forum.

I would like to know how commercial rybka does against the commercial hiarcs from the final position(I cannot check it because I do not have hiarcs)

Tomorrow at 09:30 German time in Paderborn Hiarcs will be playing with the white pieces against the former GridChess which now is called ClusterToga.

Hope many of you to tune in on the playchess broadcast room if you have the time.

Interesting scores by the way: We now have 6 engines with 1.5/2:

Rybka, Hiarcs, Deep Shredder, Cluster Toga, Jonny and Spike

Kind regards,
Sebastian Boehme
