I will be operating the Mephisto Genius London 68030. Number 2 on the Selective Search ratings list.

To keep you in suspense I will let Steve tell you what he is challenging with. All games will be posted in this thread.

I would like Novag Diamond aka "The Black Beauty" to play the winner (but with conditions)

The first computer to 2 points wins. Draws = 1/2 point //// Loss = 0 //// Win = 1 point

And since both of you guys are using 32 bit machines and "The Black Beauty"
is a 8 bit machine, I will ask for a longer time control.

You guys both get your 1 min. avg. response
"The Black Beauty" gets Tournament Level 8 or 40 moves in 2.5 hours = 3.75 min. per move avg.

32 bit divided by 8 bit = 4 or 3.75 which is close enough to 4 for me.

You guys have modules + huge opening book over "The Black Beauty"

"The Black Beauty" gets close to 4X more time since it is only an 8 bit machine and he is going up against a 32 bit machine.

I just did a test run with "The Black Beauty" on tournament level 8 - -
40 moves in 2.5 hours and he like to take his time.

Is the winner up to it with the conditions I stated above?

the match will take us about 10 weeks to complete given we can only play 1 game per week..the difference in time zones is hard to overcome
after a long grueling match like that i think i will need to turn my attention to more basic needs such as a neglected wife,infuriated family and friends,home repairs,purchase of medical and dental supplies.. ..etc etc

although in Principal i think a match under those conditions would be interesting

chances are the Tasc will utterly destroy the London so perhaps i will take it easy and use a very passive book

I convened a meeting of my strongest plastic computers (in no particular order of strength: RS 2250XL, Fidelity Designer 2265, Fidelity Modular Polgar, Novag Citrine & Obsidian & Zircon II, Saitek Mephisto Master Chess, Saitek Barracuda) and presented them with the prospect of facing off with either the Tasc R30 or the Mephisto Genius 68030.

Try to picture a group of ordinarily quiet chess boards suddenly starting to shake, LEDs randomly flashing and pieces flying all over the place. After that initial shock, the Fidelity 2265, acting as spokesman, inquired as to the possibility of performance-enhancing drugs that would add an extra 200-300 Elo. A search of the internet resulted in no such product. All boards then apparently agreed that I'd better rethink or they would shut down permanently.

resetting the iPad I needed to re-enter the login details for the Hiarcs
forum. Well I didn't have the details so while I could still read the
forum I could'nt post until now that I'm back home.

In Preparation for the start of Sunday's highly anticipated and much celebrated match of the Millennium ... i put the R30 through its paces against the newly acquired and extremely powerful Excalibur KingMaster III
Strict Match Conditions were observed
As in game one of the match ...R30 took the black pieces

Both Computers were Out Of Book at move 5
After a surprisingly strong opening the KMIII falls prey to a startling R sac by the R30 at move 13
Careful defense was required by white which instead chose to 0-0-0 right
into a crossfire hurricane at move 19
R30 swarms all over the board and eventually announces a forced mate after only 31 moves
