Also, didn't you used to have an O/C 12 core?

I have an O/C 12 core and recently a 16 core E5-2687W and the 12 core is definitely faster by quite a bit due to search overheads.

In fact....I think it may equal the 24 core machine Junior is running on since their clock speed is only 2.7 GHz, maybe 3GHz with turbo.
Unless they have an unlocked sample...
Jonny runs on a University cluster in Germany. Sadly the 12 core I used to have is no longer with us. Amir is actually running the machine with ht on so 48 threads.

Sorry to hear about your 12 core. I get quite attached to my machines.

Am REALLY intrigued by the Junior team using HT. Most programmers would say HT hurts but especially going from 24 to 48 threads where (I would have thought) it would be very hard to show a gain but very easy to show a loss in performance.

You couldn't do an undercover investigation, could you?

I don't think I've ever seen so many English openings at a computer event! Just a few years ago, it was all about the Najdorf Byrne attack. What determines these opening trends?

I'm also surprised that the opening prep seems to break off around move 14 in most games. I have been expecting another 50 move book game like we saw a few years ago.

So we got 3rd in the unlimited hardware section of the world championship behind Junior on 24/48 cores and Jonny on 2400. Congratulations to Amir, Shay and johannes.

3 rounds to go in the uniform platform event and Hiarcs leads by 1 point.
