Hopefully the UPS strike will be over before senility sets in; otherwise he will need to trade the Rev. II in for a Bingo computer.

Number 31 of the Phoenix sequence is here :-)

Sadly until the weekend I'm not going to get much time to play thanks to my little girl  Olivia loves the flashing green leds though, went like a rocket across the floor to try and play a game!

Congrats Paul
try this little trick
you take the black pieces
let your little girl play white
load up Hiarcs as the white player
tell her she has to move the white pieces as the lights indicate
you play as yourself
when she crushes you game after game ..she will be overjoyed at how easy a game chess is to play

:P

Olivia is only 7 months old, she's been attracted to chess boards like a magnet since she was three months old.......... got a little while till she can move the pieces rather than just eat them!

Not even had time to test that the emulations are there.

Roll on the weekend regards

Paul

 Quite true, Steve! BabyPlus is like a CPU and RAM upgrade for infants:

http://www.babyplus.com/

Why should nine months of gestation be wasted doing nothing? That time could be better spent learning rook and pawn endgames. Bobby Fischer had to lock himself in a closet for several days to simulate this very experience.

:) Prenatal Chess Training Regards,
John

you know I go way back John
in my day...NOONE got any formal schooling until Kindergarten
that was your first day of school of any kind
not its ..Pre-K..Pre-Pre K....Day Care....etc.etc
at 2 months old the parents are aleady worried about which University the kid will attend
this lack of Pre Kindergarten schooling didn't seem to hurt anyone in my generation

they just don't let kids be kids anymore Regards

I sobbed like an infant on my first day of kindergarten. Hangin’ out around the house and getting into mischief was more to my liking.

First grade was even worse because they still had classroom discipline back then, and we couldn’t play around most of the day as I often do now.

The times they are a-changin’ regards,
John

Just wanted to say my Rev II arrived yesterday (#26 with 3.10E and 0.58 sensor)

Obviously they are very expensive, but it is genuinely worth every penny. Everything feels luxurious, fast, responsive and elegant.

Played many games already, and thanks to the emulations, actually managed to win a few! (and was hammered many times by the native Hiarcs14)

The emulations really are a fantastic addition and really hoping Fidelity and Tasc could somehow be added to the already quite long list..

Its the sensor version/firmware for the pieces. Ruud has put in a handy utility to tune the board if the piece recognition isn't working properly.
