RFT/VEB Chess-Master

Post by pr1uk »

I picked up a RFT Chess-Master a few weeks ago from a relative who bought it cheap in Germany and brought it back for me. One LED (D5) does not work but you can work around that also when it's my turn the your play light flashes fast so put that down to the board seeing a missing LED. Downloaded the only manual that is out there in German and well translating to English is not going well.
Ok press New Game / Level 0-8 it works simple and plays ok but having problems with the other keys i.e when in a game i pressed a key in error and could not find anyway to get back to the game so had to end it. Also whatever i try i cannot see how you can setup a position on the board. As anyone out there got one and knows how the thing works and could answer my questions ?
Thanks for reading

Even for native german speakers the manual in german is very complicate. The language is in a very strict and annoying formal style.
No wonder there is no good translation. I have to concentrate myself when reading the german text and I am born here.

Tell me about it and the only copy on Alain's manual site is not a great copy.

Alain's site as the English Diamond manual but i can see now the keys all have different names but will explore later and do a little trial and error you never know.
