The idea that kittinger programmed CM3000 is usually accepted as an article of faith, but it is false.
Kittinger is behind CM2000 and Cm2100, but not was part of CM3000. Surely due to his previous work it was always assumed his authorship with CM3000.
The full info is given in the authoritative book "Echescs & Mips" by the french expert Frederic Louguet.
The programmers were Andrew Iverson, Rick Glenn ans David Bringhurst.

Chessmaster 3000 IS NOT a Kittinger program

Sourcing for Kittinger authorship is here.

The Iverson, Glenn, and Bringhurst element is referenced here. They are described as the authors of the GUI, while Kittinger built the engine. Link followed by quote:

And here is Kittinger himself (look for Steve in the thread), addressing the question to the best of his ability. Actual link, followed by a quote:Those were the people [Iverson, Glenn, Bringhurst] who programmed the GUI of CM3000 for Software Toolworks. The engine for CM3000 was by Kittinger.

- R.Kittinger: I used to be a big pack rat, kept copies of everything both sources and paper trails (contracts, royalty statements etc). However, after so many years, divorce, moves etc, I slowly started whittling down the large cache of materials (heck, I even had the old 8" floppies from MyChess). This makes it very difficult for me to clear up absolutely some of the questions regarding versions of CM. However, as I recall, my program was used in the original CM for Apple and PCs. Then the Spracklen version was used for CM 2000, but they had problems getting PC version ready, so only used for Apple. Mine was used for CM2000 and 2100. However, it may have been for CM 3000. I do know one of the versions used my engine for PC and Dan and Kathy's for Apple. The first CM for Apple was based loosely on the old Mychess that was sold by Datamost. The PC version was rewrite in C based on an assembly version (6502 probably).

I continue to believe with C64 for example (which Kittinger himself also loosely confirms over 3 years after my website post regarding Spracklen in what you just posted) that CM2000 is Kittinger's and CM2100 disk version is Spracklen whereas tape version was Kittinger. CM2100 Amiga and Atari ST was Spracklen. This was given to me from the actual horses mouth, the Senior programmer who managed putting these software together (the engine is just a piece of the software) I have the conversation posted on my page.
CM3000 is probably Kittinger's (it is too weak to be King) King started with CM4000.
The war rooms that you have in Amiga and Atari's Sargon 3 are similar to the CM2100 war room as well.
Best regards

Well, then history repeats and I repeat what I already said to Merlino. maybe in ten years I will again say the same and you will teach me the same and...and...Reinfeld wrote:Sourcing for Kittinger authorship is here.
