So, that is what we are...

Post by Fernando »

Considering the many sympathetic posts about the death of Janice and some other things that transpires here and there, i think I can classify this site as one populated mainly by 50-60 years old guys living with pets, given to drink, solitary souls inclined to literature or quiet intellectual studies, to chess of course, good music, smoking and, if the body resist, some sexual escapades here and there...

Like a bunch of characters for a Kingsley Amis novel....

Going to get my 5ª beer regards

I've no idea if you got your description right, but I'm just cracking another Bud, right now. Cheers.

Very Latin of you. I think you are using us here to ignite your literary spark plugs.

Nick, I am afraid he doesn't actually need us, he's been under the wings of El Baco and his pastures. A fitting tribute to the late Janice, why not?

The Bud is working miracles. May be because Venus has dumped me.

You will not believe this, but after the funeral of Janice one of the cats of one of my daughter appeared trapped in a place unreachable for us, so we called firemen that took and saved the beast s with his gear and all of us, firemen and me, finished the happy day with a new round of beers at the side of the tall trees of my facade garden.....

from my 9ª beer regards

i believe it
if the cats spent much time together(Janice) and your daughters cat
the surving cat will sense that Janice is gone
we had twin Calico cats
sisters from birth
they spent every day of their lives together
when one died the other knew it
she was never the same and she died soon after...from complete health to
dead

if you have other cats Fern..be warned and be prepared ..they will now fall like

Dominoes Regards

You are completely right at least about me. After the divorce that is what i am doing. I thank god she left me my small collection of 9 dedicatd chess machines, she thought they had no value and she also left me the dog and is for sure my best friend.

GREAT!!!!

You recovered your truly life.
Miss Money went with just the relics.
At last you always realize that there is not better life than alone. In case of a light desire of some conversation, you always can go to the bar, ask something to drink and tell histories to the bartender.
No better listener than them.

Examining my next novel regards

This reminds me of the time, in 1981, when I took up chess. Had not played
more than once per year since school. We were aged in our early 30's when
a friend took up chess, and, since he remembered I was an ok player in
school, he would invite me to his place for chess. I thrashed him game after
game until he got wise to me. He practiced at a chess club, but, being a
shift worker, clubs were out for me. I remember after having a few beers
I considered myself a modern day Paul Morphy, making flash sacrifices and
delivering shock checkmate with the few pieces I had left. One too many beers and it all
came unstuck.... hanging pieces in a comedy of errors and sitting red faced,
trying to talk him into accepting a draw.
