Phoenix CS needs to have access to the source code of the program. This means that the programmer and Phoenix CS need to reach some sort of agreement. As I understood, Phoenix CS is willing but it all really depends on the engine programmer.

The source code for older versions of Komodo is available online, Komodo 7 downwards is free .....
