As an extra exercise I wonder if just here, in this little site, we could agree in which old chess computer could be asked for a new bath, provided the impossible task to get the blueprints has been performed.
Blincoe, with his connections, surely could reach Mister Samole and ask him what happens with that documentation.
Perhaps Samole has not even thought in the chance to produce some stuff in a Chinese fabric. Those guys are available for whatever you want.

Actually this is an interesting theoretical question
for the sake of the discussion... Lets set aside the issue of the blueprints.. or any other practical manufacturing problems ...

Which one single dedicated chess computer from the past ..would you like to have upgraded to todays hardware?

As soon as I saw the first line of your post I expected a derisive joke, full of arrogant disdain for the masses like us...
I would like to see again -or in fact for the firs time because I have never had one- an Elite Fidelity running with current circuitry.

The Elders has been already informed of you attitude regards

actually I look at these things differently then most

a far more interesting question for me is...

which current day top PC Engine would you most like to see embedded in an old dedicated chess computer running on the older slower hardware?

the answer for me is easy
Hiarcs running in the Fidelity EAG board on a dual 68020 Motorola processor

Sigh...
Perchance To Dream Regards

If a company would create a chess computer with the program of the Atlanta+end game knowledge of the Berlin Pro+beautiful case of the Diamond upgraded to present state-of-art technology, altogether for 300 Dollars/Euros - that would be fine. I certainly would buy one.

There is indeed a dedicated chess machine that can put an engine of today and run it inside its hardware as slow as a Motorola 68020.

Back to the future regards

I am still trying to find out why David levy made the Sphinx ...
It's not much stronger than mark v.

Years of development. 68000 cpu. And no progress.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Levy, in my opinion, never did a decent program. He was more a merchant than a creative guy.
