Dedicated Tournament

Post by Carl Bicknell »

Recently a few people in my area met up and brought some dedicated units along to make a tournament. It is still in progress.

Does anyone feel like predicting how this one will go?! Time Control = G60.

1. Boris
2. Conquistador
3. Diamond II
4. London 68030
5. Magnus age 10
6. Master
7. Obsidian
8. Polgar 10 MHz
9. Shredder
10. Simultano
11. Tasc R30
12. Vancouver 68000

(Polgar & London are simulated using the Rev II. Magnus age 10 is an iPhone app running on the iPhone 5s. Boris is from Sparkchess 8 which claims to be twice as fast as version 7. Shredder is the online web-based version set to "hard".)

Please make your predications..!

Sorry, should have said: it is an all-play-all double round.

The winner maybe is difficult to ascertain, but the last place should be for Boris....

All the best with the tourney, but it's not a dedicated event.

I can already feel the flames surrounding me. Especially since I think of all the styles in the tournament Magnus is one of the most interesting.

Unfortunately these games are being played in a rather random order, rather than in rounds but here we go: Magnus crushes Boris (no surprises here)

[White "Boris"]
[Black "Magnus age 10"]
[Result "0-1"]

1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Nd5 3. d4 d6 4. f4 dxe5 5. fxe5 Bf5 6. c4 Nb4 7. Na3 c5 8. dxc5 Qa5 9. Bd2 N8c6 10. Qf3 e6 11. g4 Bg6 12. Kd1 O-O-O
13. Nb5 Rxd2+ 14. Kxd2 Nxe5 15. Qa3 Qd8+ 16. Nd6+ Bxd6
17. cxd6 Qxd6+ 18. Kc3 Nec6 19. Nf3 Rd8 20. Be2 Qf4
21. Rad1 Qe3+ 22. Rd3 Qxd3+ 23. Bxd3 Rxd3#
Magnus aged 10 plays like a grandmaster
0-1

and the rematch

[White "Magnus age 10"]
[Black "Boris"]
[Result "1-0"]

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Nc3 Nf6 6. Bg5 e6 7. Qd2 Be7 8.O-O-O O-O 9. f4 Nxd4 10. Qxd4 Qb6 11. Qxb6 axb6 12. Bc4 h6 13. Bxf6 gxf6 14.Bb5 f5 15. exf5 exf5 16. b3 h5 17. Rhe1 Be6 18.
