Thanx for your report! I hope you will share the moves of game 8 with us, will be interesting to see how other programs/machines judge the positions
Curious regards,
Paul
I certainly will. Next couple of days are busy for me again, but hopefully should get to complete this match soon and will publish all games.
I think it's interesting watching these machines play, especially as they all suffer from the horizon effect. This introduces surprises in the games and makes them all the more fun to watch.
After this match I may try a match at the same time control against the Magellan. This machine might pose more of a stumbling block, especially considering the Cosmos did surprisingly well against the MCG.
Playing game 9 of 10 and SD currently has the edge in this game based on both machine's analysis! The advantage is about one pawn, and I know it could change because these machines can make mistakes. It's still possible for the SD to win the match, but theoretically the MCG should win with its higher ELO. It's close as expected which means the SD is a good machine and despite the extra processing power of the MCG, the SD must have a fairly decent program.
Well, the SD trounced the MCG. I resigned on behalf of MCG after 41 moves. There was no hope. Score now is 4.5 each. I think it's true that many machines play their best at tournament time controls. The SD is certainly showing its ability in this match.
So now it's all down to the last game as it was in the match against the Cosmos.

Very exciting news. I don't have a problem with a Lang update. I'm hoping the board is more user friendly than the original ChessGenius, with a sensor & LED on each square (or at least 16 LEDs) or ideally an auto-sensory board! Made of wood? Maybe too much to ask for.
Hi Dave
I've worked with Richard for many years on his mobile software and even visited his home but when I asked him recently about the new model he unfortunately advised me that he was legally bound not to reveal any details about the new chess computer.
Hopefully Millennium will announce details in July if testing has gone to plan.
BTW...I was approached to beta test it but couldn't accommodate the amount of time requested plus beta testing becomes very tedious after a while, I have better things to do in my retirement.
Regards
Bryan

Also i can not say anything about it .
But i like doing it ,that can i say

I need to know whether the physical design will change, but know you can't say anything. So if the design is going to change, please wink with your right eye.
Finally completed the 10 game match between the Millenium Chess Genius and Star Diamond at 40 moves in 2 hours. After an initial number of successive wins for the MCG the SD fought back and drew level at game 9! So it was all down to the last game, as it was in the match against the Cosmos. In this case the MCG managed to win by beating the Cosmos in the final game.
How well has the MCG done against the SD?
The SD totally outplayed the MCG again! So it is a victory for the SD. I know, 10 games is not enough to get a true idea of ELO, but what it does show is that the MCG has not faired as well as I might have expected considering its hardware. Both the SD and Cosmos are running on much slower systems, particularly in the case of the Comos with an 8-bit processor running at 10Mhz. The SD has a 16-bit processor running at 25Mhz. Both slower than the MCG's 32-bit processor running at 48Mhz. Maybe the MCG is not so good at the longer time controls whereas the SD excels,
I will now publish the games as promised in separate posts...
