Re: IN PRAISE OF THIS PLACE
A lot this has to do with our ages and the nature of the hobby. I also frequent audio forums, for example, and the only one that I enjoy posting at is one where most members are well over 50 with most in their 60s and 70s. Probably none of us have enough testosterone left in our ageing bodies to even light a candle let alone start a flame war...Fernando wrote:amiable old gentlemen

Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.

Actually we did have a bit of a flame war not long ago over what we now refer to as the "Nelson Affair" it raged for several months
typical of most flame wars in other forums...no one changed their opinion even one iota irrespective of any new information that came forward or any evidence that was offered
Atypical of other forums however ..the debate ..although full throated.. was respectful and never sank to a level of personal attacks
as a moderator and also as a participant in the debate ..at no time did I read a post that I felt was even close to needing moderation
and for that we should all be
Proud Regards
Steve

The Klute offers you the white pieces and the advantage of the first move.

Re: IN PRAISE OF THIS PLACE
Just thinking... if we called it something like "The Nelson Protocol" instead, then we'd at least have the title for a chess computer thriller - firstly the book and then the movie.Steve B wrote:"Nelson Affair"
The book could be published in paperback (equivalent of plastic) and hardcover (equivalent of wood) depending on the preference of the reader.
