How to use Playchess and Online Download Link

Post by spacious_mind »

The instructions that I am providing here are for using Playchess from your Chessbase program. Mine is a version 12. If however you are using the online version the look will be different but a lot of this should still be useful to you.

For playing the Online version, you can go here, where you click on the "Play Now" bar and it will load instantly. You can also download manuals from here if you need to study it:

http://en.playchess.com/Home/Download

This is meant for some easy beginner instructions if you are using Chessbase and have never tried Playchess before. The instructions are primarily for people who don't want to pay to register and want to play as a Guest only.

Here is the PowerPoint I created for download:

http://spacious-mind.com/forum_reports/ ... ns_01.pptx

If you don't have access to Microsoft Powerpoint then you can view the instructions below. Size your page accordingly if you find it too large or too small.

For the tournament that we plan to play, I also recommend that you download Google Chrome if you don't already have it and get yourself a Google email account. Within Google email you have this "Hangout Chat option" where if you are both Google email users, you can use "Hangout" to search the email address of your opponent and a chat box will open once he accepts your invite. You can now "Unpin" The Google Hangout Chat and take it with you to Playchess and in an emergency you can continue communications and even continue your game by messaging your opponent the remaining moves. I think this is very useful as a precautionary back-up which will help Playchess Guest Players a lot.

Best regards
Nick

Hi Dave,

Thanks I fixed a couple of typos and one slide was out of order. You might want to upload the PP presentation again.

Hey Nick
in looking at the above screen shot...
I notice you actually managed a draw against the player named "OutOfWork"
that's very very impressive
I am told that player is a SuperGM that secretly plays with that nickname

2750 Elo Regards
Steve
