It is the same size and pretty much the same build. I find the Universal board better than Citrine's board though because you can play other several Novag computers with it.

Mike
Greetings everyone, I have been reading this forum since it was established. I think this is a good time to finally register ;)

Hi Mike, in addition to the info provided above. If you are planning to use the board against software, the Novag USB only works with ChessAssistant and some old dos programs. If you don't have C.A. the Citrine is a better buy because it works with Arena thus giving you access to many engines to play against.

All the best

Hi Mike, you don't need any driver if you use Chess Assistant GUI. Just use the correct serial port settings.

The only drivers I have are for the old dos programs. Namely Fritz, Fritz 2, Fritz3, Rebel7, Rebel8, Mephisto Adventage, Hiarcs6 and Genious3. These came on a floppy disk I can zip them and email them to you if you want. I also have the manual in PDF format.

Please let me know.

Thanks Murat!!! Yes please send me a zip file of the drivers. I'll appreciate it very much. I like to play around with my old computers and chess stuff.
I have the manual i only need the drivers from the disquette. I dont have chess assistant. is it any chess assistant that works with the board or it has to be an old chess assitant?, thanks very much
By the way, I havent check the citrine and UECB side by side, but I think the UECB board is of much better quality than the citrine. The UECB is made out of real wood, the citrine looks kind of plastiquee. Again I could be wrong.

My email address is miguelunibe@yahoo.com

Very grateful regards...

Those are some real classic dos programs, do you still play them?

Best regards

Ok Mike email on its way.

Hi Nick, I have an old laptop AMD K6-2 450mhz. I kept windows 98 on it.
It has both serial and parallel ports. Works well with old dos programs.
And yes even those kick my ass regularly :)

From CA 8 to 14 I think they never changed the UI.
It is under Tools menu -> DGT board options -> Novag UCB and the com port option needs to be set. Works quite well.
