Hello friends,

What happens with market computers chess? A few months ago, an announcement of the Elite have been sold immediately! Now, there's no buyer for $650? Global recession?

Hello,

what happened is that ebay invented "the global shipping program": This costs a further 100+ bucks, as well as some 150+ dollars of import charges on a second hand item. Speaking of which, I notice those sun marks on the first ranks as well as 3 Leds to be replaced...
That makes 900+ strong dollars for an item with work on it...

Just my thoughts

"the global shipping program"

OK, but the seller would not accede to that programme, in fact, that there's nothing smart.

I'm having a lot of trouble selling my units too. I guess it's a combination of the downturn in the Global economy and established collectors only wanting to upgrade their collections with mint condition comps or ultra rare variants. Unfortunately I see a chess computer market crash on the horizon.

Pessimistic Regards,

Your Pal

I'd like to own the EAS, but a few things are putting me off.
1.The Australian dollar went downhill versus the US dollar, making
anything from the US more expensive.
2. I don't see the original box.
3. International shipping costs are atrocious nowadays.
A few bad reed switches don't bother me. Collectors learn to accept
them as part of the hobby.
I'm glad I built up my collection when I did.

Original box

Post by dedicate computers »

Hello chess friends;

I think I would be summarily condemned , especially by Steve and Larry, in order when I get a computer the first thing I do is remove it from the box and store it in a special cover. Packaging goes to waste. I dont have space to keep with box.

Well the box is not much bigger than what's in it, so there's not much
space saving to be had. From a collector standpoint, the box can
sometimes have a value that rivals what's in it, so yes, I would
question your logic.
To each his own I guess.

I admire who retain the original box, so I don't consider myself a collector on the true expression of the word.

While we're on the subject,

I obtained a Budapest in a plain white box with obviously original fitting styropor, but no lettering like "Fidelity electronics etc.". Anyway, not quite in the style like you see on those Avantgarde boxes.

Would that be an original one? Steve?

Unlettered regards

never heard of a unlettered original box before Xav

i have Three EAS's
Pre-Budapest
Budapest
Glasgow- 5mhz

they all came in the exact same EAS box..all three boxes were original EAS boxes
small exception..the EAS Glasgow box had a factory stamped 5.0 near the chess board
