Beating Komodo ? Slaying the Komodo dragon
Hello once again
Am I suppose to beat Komodo for android on level 6 = 30 sec per move ?
I took less time than Komodo and in 90 moves checkmated Komodo. The game was won for me long before that though, but it did not resign ??
I did not check Komodo elo rating version free cost for my phone but its gotta be high
The program does not seem to understand bad bishop vs good knight
opposite side castling too for excitement !!
This was my first attempt to play it and I was surprised to win against software. I will attempt to post the game for you but I may not succeed because of unfamiliarity.
However Komodo was out of book after my SECOND move putting it on its own.
not often I have a game with more moves for me
than my years regards

game score
DR.Q white VS Komodo Black
30 sec per move
Dutch defense
1. d4 f5
2. Nc3 Nf6 as I said Komodo is out of book but even worse it did properly transpose to leningrad dutch. Maybe I have to download openings. I consider TABLEBASES completely unfair. And I feel the programmers should spend the time to get the software to understand the endgame not memorize it with 9 pieces is just absurd, and no fun.
3. Bg5 Ne4 ?! funny how my first three moves are the same as other game I posted against the TM. The computers play worse than humans against this. I had a game vs GM Alex Wojtkiewicz RIP in Veresov many years ago which he won after a tough 5 hours I lost the a pawn and did not recover. His name is pronounced Wosh-KAY-vits
4. Nxe4 fxe4
5. f3 d5
6. fxe4 dxe4
7. e3 c6
8. Qd2 Qd5
9. Bf4 Qf7
10. c4 Bf5
11. 0-0-0 Nd7
12. Kb1 c5 dont forget to Kb1 or Kb8 after Queen-side castling
13. d5 h6
14. h4 e5
15. Bg3 Bd6
16. Nh3 0-0
17. Be2 Qg6
18. Qe1 Rf7
19. h5 ! Qh7
20. Bh4 g5 a diagram is nice here as this interesting position
21. hxg6 ep Bxg6 I was tempted briefly to sac on g5 but it doesnt work for example Bxg5 and then Bxh3 is dead lost for me I think
22. Qg3 a5 another Pawn on dark ?
23. a4 Qg7
24. Bg4 Bf5
25. Bxf5 Qxg3
26. Bxg3 Rxf5 the liquidation is good for me making endgame plus
27. Nf2 Nf6 whites activity is superior
28. Rxh6 Kg7 winning a pawn which I will stay ahead to the end
29. Rh4 Rg5
30. Rh3 Kg6
31. Rdh1 Rf8
32. Nd1 Nh5 white has no weakness to attack
33. Be1 Nf6
34. Bxa5 Rxg2
35. b3 Kf7
36. Be1 Ke7
37. Bh4 Kd7
38. Bxf6 ! Rxf6 now the Bad bishop will tell
39. Rh7+ Be7
40. R7h2 Rxh2
41. Rxh2 Rf3 +- game is a win for me now just a little technique
42. Kc2 Kd6
43. Kd2 Kd7 admitting its over but white still has much work
44. Ke2 Rg3
45. Kd2 Rf3 always repeat
46. Rf2 Ke8
diagram please as now I must solidify the win giving a passed pawn and getting rid of the last rook
47. Rxf3 exf3
48. e4 ! Bg5+ the pawn is won and now I go to get it.
49. Ke1 Bh4+
50. Kf1 Kf7
51. Ne3 Kg6
52. Nf5 Bf6 this position was easy to foresee when I traded rooks
53. Kf2 b6 I think most players would win from here so I won't bore you with how I infiltrate king and knight to win more pawns with many zugswangs
as you saw blacks game was terrible most of the time and the knight vs bishop in this position you love ! An exercise for you if you wish.
I Had ponder on the entire game with no takebacks , the moves were easy to find. There may have been an easier win but I did not see it. All typed by hand for you to enjoy. These softwares are vulnerable strategically still.
good chess regards

Next time you win Chess Challenger 7 in 120 moves do not tell us you beat Rybka at his best BEFORE looking carefully which your opponent is. I was so enthralled.....Queegmeister wrote:I should have known better but I checked elo of 2100 so not too bad

Now that you are warmed up you can take on Stockfish. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your results.

Actually Fern I did beat RYBKA 2 years ago in game/30 Citrine using Arena but unfortunately did not save the game. UGH.Fernando wrote:

GM Svidler refuse to play software , he claims he is already demoralized enough.
And I had a draw with Droidfish which is stockfish for android last night 130 moves
When I win I will post. But with the softwares I think
I am over matched regards

Oh my dear, I know well you are surely the strongest player here, no doubt far above me. I was just joking in case you felt I was being somewhat serious.Queegmeister wrote:Actually Fern I did beat RYBKA 2 years ago in game/30 Citrine using Arena but unfortunately did not save the game. Yesterday I beat good old Kasparov Gambit, a software of the 90's which is I suppose a 2200 animal or so. I like to play it because of the Kasparov avatar that pops to comment your moves... BUT I am not better than 2000 or 2100 in a good day, so clearly I will never beat Rybka or the fish...
Humble regards
Fern
